Anti-Gay AFA Now Targets Sears
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/12/120806sears.htm

The American Family Association is urging its members to condemn Sears for running commercials on LGBT cable channel Logo.

In an email alert to AFA members chairman Donald E. Wildmon says "Sears advertising is financing LOGO's push to legalize homosexual marriage in addition to promoting the homosexual lifestyle."

Wildmon says Sears ads will appear on shows like "Sex 2K Drag Kings," "The Gayest and Greatest of 2006," and "Transgeneration."

He is urging members of the conservative Christian group to email Sears asking the retailer to cancel their advertising on LOGO and to "call your local Sears store and ask why Sears is supporting the homosexual network with its advertising."

1. So...the AFA is watching Logo?
Guess I need to start waiting for commercials on CBN and protest these companies.

3. I wondered how long this would take.
I noticed the ad on LOGO and found new respect for Sears. I thought the ad was really well-done and treated people with respect. No wonder AFA doesn't like it.

4. Is Sears trying to recruit their sons to the gay lifestyle by
seducing them with POLYESTER?

(somebody had to say it)

10. I think you've hit the nail on the head, Buffy.
It's too easy to forget that many of these folks would actually prefer that we were dead. Just take a look at how jubilant they are when they discuss their fake studies that "prove" we don't' live over 40 years of age.
I wish we could find some balance between the teachings of Sojourner which say we should remember that they, too, are victims of spiritual violence and "enough is enough". Where do we go from here? As non-violent as I profess to be, there's times that I would just like to smite some folks.

11. And I won't rest until they're all dead.
Sadly, there are some people who are uneducatable about us gay people. The bigots at the AFA are some of those people.

12. isn't it amazing in the 21st century
we have a group of people trying to manipulate the economy into starving us, keeping us unemployed, unable to pass on our property, and hated by everyone, including the very businesses where we shop for goods.

This is beyond hate. It's a war, and we need to fight it like it's a war. They want us gone. Not just back in the closet, but insitutionalized, castrated (sorry ladies!) and frontal lobotomized. Oh wait, they did that once. It was called "The Fifties". Fortunately, dollars speak louder than hateful words, and convenience speaks louder than hateful calls to action.

I promise the three babtists who will heed the call to boycott sears don't even shop there. And Sears knows that.

18. Seriously, I think we should start a campaign. . .
and this is what I think we should do. We should pool some money together and take out a full page newspaper ad. . .that has a list of EVERY company the AFA has threatened or has boycotted over the last two or three decades. That list will be so long that it should easily fill the page.

Then perhaps we could put a message under it that says:

We appeal to all the above companies to help put the American "Family" Association out of its own chosen misery. Since they regularly threaten not to purchase products if other Americans are marketed to, we appeal to all of you to publically announce that you will no longer be selling goods or services to members of the organization. Since the choice to threaten boycotts was made by members of the American "Family" Assocation and not the above companies, we feel that these companies should respect the wishes of the AFA's threatened boycotts and accept that their members have no real interest in the goods or services of your companies. We believe the companies should gather the email and identified phone calls from their constant harassing campaigns and place these names on a "dead customer list"- then send the AFA members a nice email explaining that you will regretably honor their request and no longer sell products to them.

What a wonderful way to stop the bullshit.

21. Well I'm gay and ...
I hardly watch TV at all.

Imagine that. There's some fundie out there who watches more gay TV than I ever will. Well he (somehow I know it's a 'he') can always say it's just part of his job.

At least thanks to him now I know to shop at Sears.
