Any trans-sorts in the Baltimore area want to help me find an endo? |

Edited on Sun Dec-10-06 08:08 PM by darkmaestro019
I just moved here (not by choice) and I need an endocrinologist who will deal with FTMs, preferably one who will NOT do what the one at Metrohealth in Cleveland did, and charge me $300 to walk in and then do $800 worth of bloodwork EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I had a very good local GP in OH for far too short a time who would just write me the damn script, but alas, here I am.
I'm fulltime and have been since 2001. Did therapy, got on T around 2003. And I'm very very far from rich and can't afford to run around re-doing stuff I already did.......
I'm carless, and the light rail seems to take you to Johns Hopkins but that smells like VERY VERY expensive to me. I don't have my own phone, and using the one where I live with no privacy for such an issue makes it kind of impossible to call JH and ask them some things. Their pages don't seem to offer email contact. And once I run out of refills I'm not looking forward to being without testosterone for who knows how long.
Please don't tell me to Google. Tried. I've written GLBT groups in the Baltimore area also. This kinda thing really needs someone--MTF or FTM--who already knows a doctor that treats patients fairly and doesn't charge giant chunks of money that I really need to go into my surgery fund.
Thanks for any help--you can PM me if you're not comfortable replying here. I feel kind of silly doing this at all, but I'm hitting the end of my rope. I've been without the script at all for several months--got the paper RX sitting here of the very few refills the doc gave me before I left, but I have to work out how to get it shipped to me, how to afford it, and what to do when that's gone, too....
I'm not clear on how safe it is to say where exactly you are. I'm south of Baltimore, I guess. (I'm also not entirely sure where I am, lol. Still too new.)

the local GLBT groups or trans groups. They could surely help you out. Oops, I see you tried that (sorry, in a rush I did not read clearly). They were not helpful? I know we would go out of our way to help, that is why we are here. Hmmm. I wish you luck.
Could your old physician give any help at all? No recommendations or at least inquiring for you? Can you get this through Canada?

5. There are three transgender groups in your area |
|
I found them on the TGEA (DC area group) page, here: http://tgea.net/groups.shtmlIt would be worth your while to contact them and see what sort of information on endocrinologists you can get from others in your situation. Best Wishes!
