New Jersey CIVIL UNION law..
..So, the law passed and will be active on February. Civil Unions will be legally recognized.

I think of this as a step, specially since 2 other States (and several other countries) have inacted Civil Union laws.

What are your thoughts?

2. It's kind of like
asking for hot tea and getting lukewarm tea. Still it's better than nothing.

3. Jim Crow by another name
Separate is NEVER equal.

I find it sad that so many people are wetting themselves with joy over this institutionalization of bigotry.

4. It will help improve the quality of life for gays and their families.
However, to the extent that it is inferior to full marriage, the quality of life of gays and their families will be inferior to an equal degree to those of their heterosexual (and bisexual but living as closeted "100% straight" citizens). I don't see how one can argue any other way. It's gonna have to be either full marriage or else the government has to get out of the marriage business.

5. Better than nothing
But still disappointing. Massachusetts has shown for two years now that marriage equality hasn't destroyed society. Some people say that this is just a stepping stone to marriage equality, but Vermont hasn't progressed beyond civil unions in six years. I worry that this will influence other states - there was talk about New York state passing marriage equality through the legislature, but they might decide to settle for segregation instead.
