Brothers, Sisters, I am truly, truly sorry.
I cannot apologize enough for the idiocy I see in the Straight world, even here in DU.

Why people cannot see the beauty in ANY relationship brings me to tears. We are all so solitary and so alone as the animals who view our own end; why we cannot help others in bringing beauty and meaning to their lives and relationships is so catastrophically appalling.

The shame ALL people who cannot accept and embrace persons for who they are; the shame I feel in seeing this without screaming myself hoarse...

Why can't we hold these people responsible for their "honestly held" BIGOTRY?

I truly am sorry.

4. Worse than bashing....
SEPARATE but EQUAL.

I just get so depressed. Can't they see that if we are not ALL free, NONE OF US ARE?

9. General Discussion: Politics
That pretty much sums it up. The attitudes, ignorance and apathy from too many have pushed me over the edge.

My partner and I had a long discussion this morning. After 35 years of activism, we're seriously considering, for the first time in our lives, just staying the hell home come November.

10. now THAT -- i certainly understand.
and hold much the same feelings -- some one asked me last night -- obama or mccain -- who would you go for?
i said -- ''well i would never vote for a republican -- but i'm not sure i can vote for the donnie candidate.''

that what i said.

14. Welcome to our nightmare as well.
Deb says she can't vote for homophobes after I showed her the issue and she researched it.

Hillary isn't much better with DOMA and the rejection of Marriage, but after I've seen the prevarications, I don't think I can live with myself voting for Obama. I would never vote for McCain, but like Obama I might just have to vote "Present."

I voted for McGovern. My first presidential vote. How do I disgrace that stand and that work I did?

17. Here too. And GD:P has had some to do with it. The nasty responses to GLBT concerns
has left me feeling my vote isn't needed, and my issues aren't wanted.

6. See, I feel like I've failed.
I have written GARBAGE, possibly eloquent or entertaining, but tripe none the less that picked up HUNDREDS of responses. Now I have no "ego" about posts counts; frankly, I am an arrogant bastard at times. But the fact of this so very serious subject getting so little attention speaks volumes about the sensitivity of the "Straights" of which I am one to the caliber of DISASTER of denying rights to one group that all others take for granted.

I want to sound a siren; it comes out a tin whistle. I am apologizing because AS an arrogant bastard, this makes me feel inadequate and ineffectual on something I feel strongly about.

8. I recommend your post, Tyler. I too am ashamed and sorry to my soul.
We have, none of us, anything but who we are and who we love. That's it, nothing else. Our society is so benighted that we cannot share the joy in found love, rather we must crush any hope of shared humanity... "Separate but equal"...our shame knows no end...

12. Apology accepted.
So few of us reflect on our own words and actions and own up to our short falls. You are a brave and honest to post your mea culpa. Most of the original posts I have made are questions about the indifference I have see on DU. I posted on the Obama Group and on the Indiana Group and received little response except for criticisms for bringing the subject up in the first place.
After today, you are one of us. Your shame will abate as you speak up for what you now acknowledge is the right thing.
Thank you for reaching out.
We need more like you.:pals:

You're not responsible for the fuckwittage of others. We know you do what you can to support us and we appreciate it.

Keep up the good fight, and we'll be behind you all the way.

It's another moment of shame hitting DU on what seems to be a rising frequency this election season.

20. And it's happening AGAIN here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=2869738&mesg_id=2869738

I even tried to show how this "...respect for honestly held beliefs..." BULLSHIT will gore every single ox that gets within its reach by cross posting the Kansas item about a Female referee not being wanted to ref a High school boy's basketball game because of religious strictures that women cannot be in authority over men (a Catholic Fundamentalist High School: St. Mary's "CRUSADERS") but like anything else around here with even the slightest "taint" of GLBT issues, it's circling the bowl while the Clinton/Obama partisans war on about who said what.

I hate this.
