I got a canned call today
will I circulate a petition "to protect marriage"?
of course I pushed the yes button. I figure it will cost, and it will be one more sheet out of their control.

1. I love how the fundies are false martyrs
always acting as if they are "under siege from the force of evil"

I say we start a petition preventing them from breeding. That might accomplish something positive!

2. Nah, too many of their kids will rebel
and when kids who were raised in fundy churches rebel, they do a bang up job of it and end up rabid liberals.

We need all the rabid liberals we can get.

3. It's been tried, kind of
Washington's Initiative 957 would have made procreation a requirement for legal marriage. In-state marriages that failed to squirt out young'uns in a timely manner would have been automatically annulled, while out-of-state marriages who failed in the "principle purpose of marriage" would have been reclassed as "unrecognized marriages," ie put into an already existing class of marriages that the state refuses to recognize as valid.

Alas, it failed to get enough signatures to make the ballot.

4. The opposite of what I was asking for
I want their birthrate to be nil, not encourage them like this guy is doing:

5. I like your style! I always get outraged and say ABSOLUTELY NOT!
But, now that I think about it, it's probably more effective to say yes and then do nothing!

One question: Do you get a lot of spam/strange phone calls once you get on one of these "lists"? That's my biggest fear!

7. I assume it's registered voters
It was all mechanical , they got no new info that they didn't already have. Oh I'd love them to call in person.I love to tell them I am the lady of the house.

10. Bill Clinton called me live.
I swear it was really him! He couldn't stop talking, and I couldn't get a word in edgewise. Then he hung up, but he's a busy man, so I forgave that.

13. I can think of several people who would sign it.
George Bush
Tom Delay
etc.

Of course, they're busy people so perhaps you should just sign it for them before you send it back. :-)

If it is a legal petition...
I'd be afraid to do that I do that at the market when I can just walk away.

17. I do something similar
I registered to get email alerts from the AFA. When they ask me to boycott and contact some pro gay advertiser, I do just the opposite and congratulate them for supporting our community!
