How Have the Log Cabin Republicans Helped Gay People? Is there a List Of Accomplishments
I started a thread here.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=221x65720

Same debate going on this time I have asked what has the Log Cabin Republicans done that has actually helped gay people. This co worker gets angry every time I ask but can not seem to give me a reason. He keeps saying he won't take the bait. That there is no real answer to my dumb question. Its an honest question I think.

Second, is there a link somewhere with actual quotes Republicans have said that are anti gay/homophobic? Again, he says a few Republicans 'may have said' some mean spirited things about gay but not as many as liberal try to make out. I strongly disagree and would LOVE to present him with a list of actual quotes by Republicans. I showed him one yesterday that William F. Buckley said and he said he'd have to research it to see if he really said it. I know I'm wasting my time, but others are listening to us and I really want to make a point and call out his lies. Thanks!

1. Reality will not get in the way of his denial system
He will simply alter his public justifications for his emotional need to project his deeply held irrational feelings.

2. I'm sure Republican policies have helped the wealthier...

...members of the GLBT community. So, if your only concern is for your other wealthy gay friends financial situation, the party may be a good fit for them.

3. I went to their website
I went to the Log Cabin Republicans website and could not find any accomplishments. I mean, how long have they been around? Wouldn't you think they would boast and highlight the things and good they have done? Other than a little club, what have they really done for gay people?

4. honey, you want my honest opinion. let it go. you aren't going to win all your battles
and log cabin republicans is one battle you wont win with logic

these people have deeply deluded themselves about the GOP and i think unless you a trained psychologist you wont have any luck penetrating these delusions.

we justify thinks psychologically that we cant accept about ourselves, for instance if you know you are doing something for greed but you cant accept that you are greedy, it creates cognitive dissonance. so you justify it to your self by saying "the GOP isnt all that bad. the liberals are making shit up" etc.

logic will not help you get away from this.

just my two cents
