Same-sex marriage in NY?
The bill has already passed the assembly and Paterson will sign it. All we need is for it to pass the state senate. We are one seat away from taking the majority. It seems to me that same-sex marriage, that is full marriage, not civil unions in NY would be the biggest GLBT victory in the U.S. yet. Let's make sure we get democrats that support gay marriage elected in november!

2. NY ruled out-of-state same sex marriages legal
This was from Feb. 2nd

A New York appellate court ruled Friday that valid out-of-state marriages of same-sex couples must be legally recognized in New York, just as the law recognizes those of heterosexual couples solemnized elsewhere. Lawyers for both sides said the ruling applied to all public and private employers in the state.

It would be so cool if this all came together. Right now I guess me and my partner are one of the few legally married couples in NY state. We went up to Canada and got married on Feb. 2, 2005.

6. This is a good decision, but the Court of Appeals has to affirm it to make it the law of the State.
Nevertheless, I am with you. My partner and I are going to Toronto in April to get married (after 21 years).

4. One more step. This one especially good.
IMO, it's better to go by legislation than court rulings wherever possible.

The will of the people, you know.

5. Dear God, I hope so

Even though it would make my commute semi-hellish, that would mean Haruka and I could move right over the border and live in NY. Houses and land are so much more affordable there. No same sex marriage is the one thing that's stopped us from doing it already.

We could even get some sheep for Mick to train with!
