I posted a poem about my gay male soul-mate who died of AIDS in GD
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 01:02 AM by roughsatori
The responses have pleased and surprised me. If I had posted the poem 4 years ago the responses would have been, taken as a whole, very different. I would love to read your responses to my poem. Link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=3064058&mesg_id=3064058 I am happy to be back. The people in GD could not have been kinder or more understanding. I would be inspired if other GLBT members posted in reply to my GD post. Perhaps, the commonalities of love and loss, that all humans Esperance, may help us all unite more at DU.

Lately, I have begun to see more posts blaming us for hurting the Democratic Agenda. If you disagree, please feel free to reply here. I would love to read what you think.

Your post was wonderful. I hope you have the time and inclination to return to GD and read my reply to you. I now assume you are GLBT as you posted in this forum. That awakens even more fellowship. Thanks. Rough Satori

7. Welcome back.
I remember you and I am very glad you are back.

You know, that was just lovely. I don't know how someone lives through that experience but what you wrote is such a tribute to the man and it really speaks to his soul as well as yours. The last line, god what a line.

I hope you are getting used to him being gone. I have found that your loss never leaves but you get used to it being there so that your moments of heavy grief can at least be kept until you can fully express it rather than it coming out all the time. I am so very sorry the two of you had to go through that. Here, a small gift but the only one I have to offer . I hope you are well.

8. Your gift to me is more than enough and makes me happy

Thanks for your support and lovely comments about the poem. I am also happy that you remember me. I remember you and always read your posts. One of the 2 reasons I left was due to the lack of commitment to GLBT Equal-Rights at DU. I found it infuriating reading members debate whether fighting for our rights was a harm to the Democratic Party, or not.

MuseRider, thanks again for your kind post. Rough Satori

9. There is still a lot
of that fighting but we are much stronger than we once were. There are an awful lot here who will jump in and do the right thing. Sadly that should not have to happen, support ideally on a liberal (?) forum should be across the board.

We are stronger if you will stay. :)

10. I will stay. Now some good news
My posted link that led to my response to the GLBT hate post now shows that the entire sub-thread was deleted. That is progress. Thanks Mods. There was a time when it would not have been removed. Some years back I received a few warnings for attacking those kinds of posts. Things do change. But too slowly for me.

The mods deserve credit for that change at DU.

11. Weeeeelllllll
it is still much too slow, even here. There are many times there will be a post that should be removed and is not or is not until the next day and sometimes never. Yes it is a little better but not always. If you have not you should read these threads by Chovexani. I will link to the latest. Not to make you upset but you should know who and what and why if you don't already. Besides, they are excellent threads. I learn tons by reading them. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=221&topic_id=67249&mesg_id=67249
