North Carolina LGBT Voters, Bev Perdue or Richard Moore? |
|
Can anyone enlighten this NC voter on which candidate for Governor has the best record in support of the LGBT community? I have been unsuccessful in attempts at nailing this down. If you can provide any useful links that can help shed some light on where the candidates stand it would be appreciated.

Usually Q-Notes publishes a voter guide with candidate details but I don't know if they put one out for the primaries.

3. A voter guide would be a huge help |
|
Thanks for your response...hopefully something along the lines of a guide will show up before the primaries.

2. I don't claim to be an expert but I support Moore |
|
In regards to gays it is due to his support, and her non support, of adding gays to the anti bullying policy for schools. I also think her campaign has been sleezy.

4. I agree about the sleezy ads |
|
in fact I have to admit that in watching one of Bev's ads I came away thinking she was a conservative Republican attacking Moore. I do wish I had a better idea of where the candidates really stand in regard to LGBT issues and concerns though. After searching all through BlueNC I came away knowing as little about their positions as I did before.

I might be able to help. On edit, I can't get the website I was looking at to work. I emailed Ian Palquist, director of Equality NC, and will let you know what he sends me.

6. Thanks, I appreciate the help |

I have to assume there are other NC folks who may be interested in this same information so it would be a great help to post the findings here. I will also keep trying to find information independently and post what I am able to find, if anything, here also.

Ian got back to me and they have interviewd Moore already and will interview Perdue tomorrow. Moore has adopted a non discrimination policy which includes sexual orientation for the treasurer's office.

I have still been unable to locate anything of value on the web. I understand there is a possibility of a debate between Moore and Perdue, perhaps that will answer some questions.
