Doctors Investigated After Video Surfaces Of Treatment Of Gay Man In Operating Room
(Manila) A video posted on YouTube showing Philippine doctors laughing while removing an object from a patient may lead to charges against the surgeons and cost them their medical licenses, according to officials.

The unauthorized nearly 3-minute video of a noisy operating room shows doctors and nurses laughing, giggling and cheering.

At one point, a hand appears with a cell phone camera taking a close-up picture of the surgery.

As a doctor gingerly pulls out the 6-inch long canister from the male patient's rectum, someone shouts, "Baby out!" amid loud cheers.

The doctor then removes the canister cap and sprays the contents toward the crowd of nurses and doctors viewing the procedure.

6. As has been pointed out to me; where is the "GaY" part indicated in the article or
are you just assuming the person was gay.

7. In this particular situation it was a gay man. See the bottom of the article.
The 39-year-old patient received surgery on Jan. 3, three days after a New Year's drinking spree and a "one-night stand" with a male partner, Ceniza, the lawyer, told the AP.

8. One night with a man does not a gay make
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 11:12 AM by Cronus Protagonist
FYI - I've slept with and had sex with straight men who continue to lead straight lives. Gay is a self-identification, not an objective diagnosis.

9. It's really beside the point anyway. I was merely answering a question,
about why the subject line of the OP assumed he was gay. It was published by a gay website, and at the end of the article it does mention that it was a homosexual incident. And since it's about discrimination, I'm assuming that this person did identify as gay.

But you're correct, it doesn't prove anything if someone has a one-night stand with someone of the same sex. Happens all the time.

10. Yeah, I understand... I was attempting clarification
My commentary should have been directed at the source, not you. My bad. I wanted to educate the people who don't know the ins and outs of gay life. :)

And you're right, the article does have a "gay" theme to it due to the sourcing.

I sigh every time I see that someone with something up their ass is somehow considered "gay" by so many people. I also know that there are a lot of adults who like to have items inserted into their rectums when there's not a gay person in sight! It's annoying to see gay publications promoting this kind of linking of anal ass play with gay people. Human beings like ass play, not just the smaller group that consists of gay people. :P

19. So trying to find out how and where oneself has become so dramatically
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 10:33 AM by PetraPooh
uninformed is a bad thing? It sure seems that way on nearly all forums. Seems only people only allowed to fight about things they "KNOW", then what the heck we can all go for blood. But to try to ask or understand "Well, if what I thought isn't true, then how in the world did I get that idea; and where can I find proof that I'm wrong" is somehow stupid????

Well I can't agree that. Seems it would be better for me to figure out whether there is some other explanation than the one I "guessed" and asked for alternatives.

things where the sun doesn't shine, and that saying that it must be so simply because you have only heard or read about gay men being in the hospital for this, would be like saying that only pretty white girls are ever abducted simple because that's all that's usually reported on the news.

Why on earth do you care anyway? (Ah forget it, I think it's best to ignore you at this point.)

13. I am not a doctor, but I understand that at least with regard to human males, a reason why this kind
of stimulation is exciting, regardless of sexual orientation, is because the rectal passage lies adjacent to the prostate, where seminal fluid is stored and is highly sensitive to physical stimulation. The explanation for why some men find that exciting, in other words, has nothing to with sexual orientation and everything to do with anatomy.

15. Being hetero/female, I've known guys who like digital rectal stimulation.
Being female/health care provider, I've also known women who have put stuff up in their vagina and rectums and had a difficult time retrieving it.

This was very unprofessional on the staff's part and they should be taken to task for it.

16. I am a terrible person
I know I shouldn't laugh.

I'm glad to hear there is an investigation into the unprofessionalism of the surgery team.

but
"...He said his client was too drunk to remember how the body spray canister ended up in his body..."
cracked me up.

21. You Are Not a Terrible Person.
If I were that doctor and his crew, I'd have laughed too. I'm queer as a three dollar bill*, but let's face it: there's something inherently funny about someone with a canister stuck up their ass. I'd imagine that scene in the operating room has been repeated countless times around the world. The important thing is that they gave the man the medical attention he required; having a few laughs at his expense (while he was under the gas) seems completely human nature to me.
