Interesting look at gay media from GayWired.com:
Political scientists sometimes suggest the greatest predictor of any American’s political affiliation is really pretty simple. Just ask how his or her parents are registered.
Not so fast.
Sure, many (if not most) Americans seem to inherit political attitudes, prejudices, likes, dislikes and voting behaviors from their families—except gays and lesbians it appears.
Research also strongly suggests that one of the earliest signals of independence we make—after our same-sex attractions, of course—is the desire to vote and to change the world to reflect and include us rather than shun us, mock us and keep us invisible. We are one of the few groups most likely to choose our party ties, rather than have them thrust upon us. Our political DNA is inherent (like our sexuality), it seems, and just as hard wired as our enduring love of media, especially gay community media.
