1000 straight adults plan to protest teens during Day of Silence at Seattle-area high school.
Mount Si High School leaders were hoping the national Day of Silence on Friday in support of gay and lesbian students would pass quietly under the radar.

That's not going to happen.

A prominent anti-gay-rights activist last week called for 1,000 "prayer warriors" to protest in front of the school Friday morning.

...

GSA adviser Kit McCormick said members will observe the day regardless of the protest going on outside.

"It's enough of a tragedy that there are 1,000 grown-ups protesting kids who are asking for acceptance. We don't need to say a thing."

There is much more to this story, including the fact that the protest has been organized by anti-gay Rev. Ken Hutcherson as "payback" of some kind after he was booed at a MLK Jr. Day assembly.

2. If you looked up "bullying" in the dictionary, you'd probably find something like this.
And about Rev. Hutcherson wanting "payback"? Jesus H. Christ, how childish can you get?!

4. they're calling for a 1000
my money says they won't get that many. i'll be interested to see. i really do not believe that average joe america is concerned - i may be naive, but that's how i see it. no matter how many protestors they muster most people are going to recognize that they're selling hate and nothing but hate.

6. And so the students learn another reality of life . . .
Standing up for what they believe in is a sometimes difficult, oftentimes scary situation. I hope they see positive outcomes from their efforts, and thereby learn the proper lessons from this all. I hope, too, there are some "adults" in the midst of this (of any and all ages) who can explain to all who will listen the history of civil rights protests in this country and give everyone an appreciation for just how far we've all come in recent decades.

11. Hutcherson is becoming Phelpsian
He is, in my estimation, the most dangerous homophobe in America considering his participation in a global organization that seeks to eradicate gays (watchmen on the walls).

16. Personal?
So Ken (won't call him reverend as that is a title of respect) says this is personal. He didn't say that it was scriptural (it isn't) nor that it was being done out of love or concern for the students (defniltey not) but that he is doing it because they embarassed him by asking a question. Now how childish is that? Isn't he ignoring the scripture that says to turn the other cheek and the one that says he is to forgive if he wants God to forgive hime? Isn't he neglecting the bible verse that says God is Love? He wants revenge and that is all to it. Then to call for "prayer warriors"? Where in the bible does it mention prayer and warriors in the same verse? These people make up things to sound more menacing and macho. So instead of calling for 1000 protestors how about asking for 1000 people to take food to the local food bank? How about Ken obeying the bible he says he preaches and forgive whoever it was that shamed him? Jesus must be rolling over in his grave at this guy. To quote the wise sage Bugs Bunny "what a maroon".
