ATHENS, Greece - A Greek court has been asked to draw the line between the natives of the Aegean Sea island of Lesbos and the world's gay women.
Three islanders from Lesbos — home of the ancient poet Sappho, who praised love between women — have taken a gay rights group to court for using the word lesbian in its name.
One of the plaintiffs said Wednesday that the name of the association, Homosexual and Lesbian Community of Greece, "insults the identity" of the people of Lesbos, who are also known as Lesbians.
"My sister can't say she is a Lesbian," said Dimitris Lambrou. "Our geographical designation has been usurped by certain ladies who have no connection whatsoever with Lesbos," he said.

All I know is they don't wanna upset the Lesbians - and I'm not referring to the people of that town. There's nearly a quarter billion of the other type and about 50,000 female Lesbos - so I don't think the Lesbians are going to change their name. :sarcasm: Perhaps the town might want to call themselves Leslies or Leslytes. I would think they would be welcoming, because Lesbian groups take vacation tours to their island! I suppose just like here in America, most people there don't give a damn about the name being similar, it's the few right-wingers who resemble nothing what a holy person should behave like.
