So, if Nunn is selected as VP candidate, what will you do? |
|
Hold your nose and vote for the party line? Vote because you think it's still the best? Not vote, because you don't agree with the choice? (Or any other permutations I might not have come up with...)

2. I think I can vote for Obama with a different write-in candidate for VP. |
|
But if I were in a swing-state, I wouldn't risk it, and would just vote for Obama, no matter who he chose as VP.
Fuck, I'd vote for an Obama / Cheney ticket if I had to.

3. Vote for "nunn of the above". |
|
i.e. Vote for Obama and hope for the best. I detest Nunn... but the Supreme Court is at stake.
That trumps all.

4. Either Obama or McCain will be the next president. Gee, which one should I help? |
|
If I do not help Obama to get elected, and it is McCain instead, what do I tell to the people who suffer due to lack of healthcare, what do I tell to the soldiers who are maimed in the Middle East, not to mention the innocent civilians? Sorry, we didn't have the perfect candidate so I could do nothing? No way. How would I ever get the blood off my hands?

I remember Nunn, and the answer is NO way. I am too old to worry about the USSC. I wrote in Gene McCarthy in '68. A Nunn nomination would indicate Obama's lack of real commitment to equality. Such treachery would not get my vote.

12. I would be extremely disappointed if Obama chose Nunn.. |
|
and would probably stop campaigning for him. He'd still get my vote, however.
There are about 15 names floating around as Obama's potential running mate. I seriously doubt Obama would choose Nunn after the outcry from the gay community. Having a homophobe at one of your rallies and then expressing extreme disagreement with them is quite another thing from choosing one as a running mate.

20. I'm not even sure what the difference between the two is anymore as |
|
I have no idea where Obama--or any politician--really stands on anything besides their vote. He seems to talk out of both sides of his neck. The idea that these politicians are just "keeping" their powder dry for "what they really care about" seems ridiculous to me. Obama's already changed his mind on NAFTA after really dealing the Clinton campaign a strong blow by pretending to be different on that particular issues.
Name one time in presidential history where it worked out that way. They don't 'go along to get along' and then "wow" everyone with a courageous political move. They make bold statements that people want to here and then they forget all about people once they're in office.
I haven't been very interested since Kucinich really.

After all, the VP has very little real power unless the president gives him some. And I trust Obama.
