Phelps Group Driven Off By Pirates? Way To Go, Matie!
Way to go, matie!

Arkansas Times
September 19, 2008

-- Brian Chilson photo

What do you do to make a bunch of soulless nutcases abandon their post at the Convention Center? Send in the pirates!

Yep, the cuckoo Phelps hate group walked the plank this morning after a happy bunch dressed like pirates and holding signs saying "God hates shrimp -- Leviticus" and "God hates cotton-polyester blends" stood opposite them at the corner of Markham and Scott streets.

The group, made up of Central Arkansas Pastafarians, waved swords and growled "Arrghh!" in a manner that would have made Abbie Hoffman proud.

With cars honking and waving at the pirates and a TV crew giving them all the attention, the Phelps group -- with a child in tow, sadly -- picked up their "fag" epithets and went away. Pitiful.

- The correct spelling of course is: Arrrrrgghhhh.....

2. "and went away." Apparently Phelps's hate-group does not like being an accessory to
having the truth about The Bible out there next to their Lies.

Way to GO Pirates!!

7. You go, matey!!!
As we are a nation founded by pirates, scoundrels, and scalawags. it is more than fitting that pirates cause Phelps&Co to slither away....
Could we get "Jack Sparrow" (Johnny Depp) to punk out/bitch slap old Fred? His mentors (Hunter Thompson, Keith Ricahrd) would be so proud.... I'd buy a ticket.....

11. Ridicule
The best ammunition against right-wing nutcases. Catcalls, boos, raspberries, thumb to the nose, they all have their place in civilized discourse with Republicans. For far too long, the MSM has been insisting that the corporatist vs. the shrinking wimpy liberal has been "balanced" treatment, when actually it should be the clown vs. the pirate. Cut the strings on THEIR golden parachutes and watch them crash to the ground. Turn it around and make THEM the butt of jokes.

12. To Pastafarians, pirates are divine beings
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster

The Flying Spaghetti Monster (also known as the FSM) is the deity of a parody religion called The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and its system of beliefs, "Pastafarianism". The religion was founded in 2005 by Bobby Henderson to protest the decision by the Kansas State Board of Education to require the teaching of intelligent design as an alternative to biological evolution. ...

According to the Pastafarian belief system, pirates are "absolute divine beings" and the original Pastafarians. Their image as "thieves and outcasts" is misinformation spread by Christian theologians in the Middle Ages and by Hare Krishnas. Pastafarianism says that they were in fact "peace-loving explorers and spreaders of good will" who distributed candy to small children, and adds that modern pirates are in no way similar to "the fun-loving buccaneers from history." Pastafarians celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19.

The inclusion of pirates in Pastafarianism was part of Henderson's original letter to the Kansas School Board. It illustrated that correlation does not imply causation. Henderson put forth the argument that "global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct effect of the shrinking numbers of pirates since the 1800s." A chart accompanying the letter shows that as the number of pirates decreased, global temperatures increased.
