Zucker: Republican is 'the new gay'
What an asshole.

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Film director David Zucker says conservatives are so uncomfortable in Hollywood that being a Republican is "the new gay."

"You sort of feel like you have to hide it," Zucker -- director of "Airplane!," "Top Secret" and "The Naked Gun" -- told EW.com. "When you meet, you give each other a secret look, 'Are you a Republican, too?' It's the new gay."

Zucker and some of his fellow Hollywood Republicans -- including Jon Voight, Kelsey Grammer and Dennis Hopper -- collaborated on the upcoming movie, "An American Carol" EW.com characterized the movie as "Hollywood's first unabashedly right-wing comedy."

1. Right-wing Comedy...ie
Not funny.

As to his having to hide it...That was debunked by Schwartzenegger and Fred Thompson. Both have said being a republikkan in Hollywood does not keep from getting any parts or auditions.
Whether your films make money or not does.

Hence...Bruce Willis, Arnie, Sly, Robert DiNiro and James Woods get plenty of roles. Kurt Russell still gets role. I haven't heard Dennis Hopper being branded as prsona non-grata. Jon Voight gets few roles.

More republikkan whining.
We're being victimized.

3. Stupid-looking movie
I saw a commercial for the movie on TV and it looked idiotic. The whole premise of the movie seems to be various people constantly slapping a Michael Moore look-alike across the face everywhere he goes. The movie looks to be about 6 years too late. I doubt it will make a lot of money. Ubber-patriotism and attacking (physically) anyone with non-conservative opinions just isn't the going thing these days.

4. Someone posted a writeup about it on Reason.com ...
and in the comment section, the Libertarians were saying how much this is gonna suck.

I expect it will do "well" the first weekend - not #1, but not 1200 ticket sales either. After that ....

 WELCOME TO DU!!

8. Pull. Leez.
When folks start throwing empty beer bottles at their windshields for having a boooo$h sticker like they've thrown bottles at mine for having a pride sticker, then mebbe I'll buy it. Not one nooyawk second before. They wish they had the genes, the class and the brains to be Teh Gay.

Republican: / re PUH bli kn / a person who will trespass in someone's back yard they don't know, to steal the sheets of their line, then trespass in someone else's backyard they don't know to steal the wood off their shed, then trespass in someone else's yard they don't know, wearing said stolen sheets to build and light a cross using said stolen wood, and beat them with a Bible they don't read, waving an imitation of Old Glory made in China by Chinese workers from Chinese materials (having put an American textile worker on the street because "unions iz bad").

Have I reached my snark limit yet?

12. "Help, we're being oppressed!"
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 10:56 PM by Athelwulf
They say this in a state that has an unhealthy infatuation with electing Republican Hollywood actors as governors. "Like, oh my god, he's in pictures! That's totally, like, all the qualification I need!"

That's not to say I hate all Californians, of course. Obviously you didn't all vote for Reagan and Schwarzenegger. Just to make that clear.

Homosexuality and Republicanism both tend to be hidden as a consequence of the stupidity of Republicans.

16. Those poor Republicans
Why, I've even heard that there's an amendment proposition on the fall ballot that will take away Republicans' rights to get married. In a lot of other states, Republicans are getting fired for their beliefs. They can't help what they believe. It's just as valued a "choice" as being a Democrat. Maybe if they stopped trying to recruit good Democratic children toward their lifestyle, they wouldn't be so persecuted.

:sarcasm:

18. Memo to Zucker: We don't "have to hide" it anymore, you freakin' moron.
Well, at least many of us don't have to hide who we are.

This just proves that Republicans have regressed to the point that they are living in their heads back in earlier times where people had to hide in closets.

Hey, I have NO problem turning one of the conservative movement's lines back around on Republicans: Just go back into the damned closet. I don't care if you're a Republican, just don't publicly force your lifestyle choice on ME!
