7. In two years, you're going to start the petition for the referendum. |
|
You're going to overturn it. You may not win in two years, but you will in four or six. It *will* happen. Just because it passed today doesn't mean it's permanent.
What? You think you're done? We got over half the country... but the rest of us... we still got work to do.
Trust me -- I'm just as angry but same-sex marriage is going to take as long -- if not longer -- than mixed race marriage.
Baby steps -- and I say this as someone who lost my partner years before marriage was even possible, anywhere in the world. It will happen.

8. Nothing In This Country Ever Changes.... |
|
which is why I am going to emigrate to Canada as soon as I can arrange it. No matter who is in power in this fucking US, the homophobes and fundies always seem to have the last fucking word. At least Canada makes an effort to keep the fundies in line...over here, they are allowed to run rampant. No wonder I hate this fucking bullshit theocracy masquerading as a democracy!

oh goodness, sweetie. i understand your sentiments and anger toward the result. we're obviously all upset about it, but saying "nothing in this country ever changes" is just plain ignorant. have women not come miles since the beginnings of this country, not to mention immigrants and blacks. It's simply that the struggle sometimes lasts for a long time. But it can never be won if all the support simply gave up and ran away. It is people like that that just prolong the problem further. Canada obviously needs no more help, since they are so damn perfect. Arizona however, obviously needs all the help it can get.By leaving you're only making the pro-102 percentage that much greater.
