Bitter pill to swallow
Just posted in another forum, I guess "this land is your land, this land is my land"...unless you're gay. Ironic that majority of African Americans voted for prop 8...heck, maybe in 100 years there'll be a gay President

1. Yes, a very bitter pill. I cannot celebrate fully while there is still this kind of intolerance and
hatred. My thoughts are with all of us who are struggling to wrap their brains around this.

2. Another one?
I agree. It is a lousy day for gay rights in America. And just nasty that people so concerned with equal rights for themselves don't see it for others.

4. It's only a matter of time. Here in the Northeast
People are more receptive to gay marriage.
Maybe they should frame the argument like we Yankees do.
"Why should gays be deprived the misery of marriage that straight people have?"

But I guess you guys out west are the eternal optimists. You know all cheery and that stuff.

It will come, we still have won some battles, and one major battle in the war on Peace and Justice. We are fighting the good fight, and therefore cannot lose. Give it a little more time, this issue has not been in the forefront for much time. It will work out.

8. Especially NY
Where Governor Patterson is determined to pass a Marriage Equality law, and now has a Democratic Assembly and Senate. And, I believe, like CT, has a population that would not endorse an anti-marriage amendment.

I would watch NY State very closely.

7. Watching the Prop 8 results come in...
that just totally killed all the hope and enthusiasm I had watching Obama's speech. We are never going to be able to make any advances nationally if we can't win at a state level. I almost think I would have been less upset if we had lost the presidential election and won Prop 8...I dealt with 8 years of Bush I suppose I could deal with anything.
