The one bright spot
As I canvassed I had a sinking feeling about 8 when I saw that one out of 4 Democrats were voting for it.

People seemed to have formed their decision in concrete - I don't think there were many that were conflicted about it.

There is one very very bright spot. The young people were against it by a huge huge margin. My daughter and I spent the day in a GOTV poll watching/calling effort (which was fun but I doubt generated a single vote lol). As we drove around she was texting all her friends (how do they text without looking?) Every minute or so she would give me the update saying simply her friends name and with one exception from her lone Mormon friend it was 100% no, no, no, no.

If proposition 8 was limited to voters 25 and under it would have failed 7 to 1.

It is only a matter of time, that outcome is certain.

Of course civil rights should never need "a matter of time" but that is the one bright spot on the vote against 8.

3. Justice delayed is justice denied.
Tell that to a 50, 60 or 70 year old gay American.

4. You're right of course. So I'll probably get the right to get married when I'm a senior citizen.

7. I just posted to another thread that Tom Ammiano was sent to the Assembly
from a nearby SF district AND forbidden to marry on the same night. Unbelievable.

6. Won by about 265K -- if MSNBC numbers are right.
What happened in L A County? I was hoping it would fail there. :(
