Saddleback Church Prop 8 Protest!

This peaceful protest will take place this Sunday (November 9th) at 10AM PST. Please spread the word!! Prop 8 is unfair and unconstitutional. A church's definition of marriage should not be allowed to be applied to the whole population. Rick Warren of Saddleback Church came out publicly in an email to his congregation telling them to Vote Yes on 8.

Please bring your friends - gay or straight. Christian or not. All who support marriage equality are encouraged to come show their support in front of one of the largest churches in America. Bring your signs if you have them!

5. ATTN: I sent a letter to Americans united for the seperation of Church and State...
Here's what it says:

As a first time visitor to your website, I was shocked to see no
mention of the Mormon funding of proposition 8 in CA.

The funding of the proposition 8 campaign by the Mormon church and
Catholic organizations, an effort to change the California
constitution to reflect the religious values of one set of Christian
faiths, is a slap in the face of the principles you claim to stand
for. The fact that the proposition passed does not mean it reflects
the will of the people, but only that the massive funding of the
campaign with tax exempt church dollars has literally allowed them to
buy the vote through a massive misinformation and propaganda media
blitz. I find it offensive that you would take no interest and make
no stand on the issue. Could it be that you are willing to turn a
blind eye to the blatant political maneuvering of the religious, if it
is only homosexuals that are suffering? I would never assume such
blatant bigotry on the part of your organization, so I will assume you
are simply behind or out of the loop. Here are a couple discussions
of the issue to bring you up to speed.

Anyone who wants to copy and past that and send it as well, feel free, I think the more folks that put pressure on these guys to get involved the better.

6. Tonight -- 5 p.m. -- Palm Springs City Hall

Please join Mayor Pougnet, Mayor Pro Tem Ginny Foat and leaders from HRC,EQCA, Desert Pride Center and other organizations that worked so hard on the No on 8 campaign.

We must move forward from the devastating results of bigotry and hate exhibited towards the GLBT community with our heads held high and the determination that we lost a battle not the war. Stand up for the 620 + marriages performed at Palm Springs City Hall, 18,000 statewide and countless others that will now be denied their civil rights.

We must let the citizens that voted yes on 8 know that we are not going away and that we will continue this battle for our basic civil rights. If there ever was a time for a us to come together as a community both Gay and Straight and support each other….it is now!
