Another huge drawback to being gay...
My partner's mother just called and when I answered she said "Hello, Bunny Bear!" I said, "This is ____, but you can call me Bunny Bear if you want to." :D She was supremely embarrassed when she realized that it wasn't her daughter she was talking to.

One of the hardships of having a gay child I guess. :)

I'm one of the lucky ones. My partner's parents are incredibly loving and accepting of me as their daughter's spouse and "other" mother to their grandchild. As are her grandparents. They took a little time to come to terms with it, but now they love me and accept me as one of their own grandchildren.

Now if we can just convince our government to treat us with the same respect.

1. There's no reason why it can't.
I found out my cousin, who has been battling a brain tumor and who is a well-known showman and artist in SF was protesting the other night in the Castro district. It actually invigorated him, which is good, since he's been going through months of chemo. Luckily, he and his love of 18 years have already married, but really, that is no consolation when I think of the numerous people who have been denied this basic right. This will not stand. I have faith that Prop 8 will be crushed by the courts.

2. Embarassing parents isn't a drawback. It's a perk. Like sharing clothes.
We've got a lot of perks.

3. My partners family are totally supportive
I can't imagine marrying into a non-progressive family.

Because after 22 years we "are" married to all but the State.

6. That's great
The only time my partners family likes me is when they want money.
