Master list of businesses to boycott
I know about the SFGate.com database, but is there a list of actual business names anywhere?

Here's what I know about so far:

eFax
El Pollo Loco
El Coyote Restaurant

There's got to be many more business names that we're all familiar with. I hope they're exposed soon!

1. I use pFax instead of efax
it's less expensive and works just fine, and I don't have to install spyware on my machine.

Shame about El Pollo Loco. Did they give money to Yes on 8?

Thanks

6. I read that the Marriott CEO said that he did not donate.
Marriott is part of the Mormon empire, but I don't know how closely connected they are.

7. Marriott did NOT donate to Prop 8
It's too bad people are just spreading rumors.

From the CEO of Marriott:

9. Sorry, but Mr. Marriott's hands are dirty...the fact that he hands
over at least 10 percent of his earnings to the church means that he's indirectly responsible for their smear campaign.

I don't blame him for being worried this is going to cost his company business. Read the comments on the site from people saying they've canceled reservations.

Maybe his company should have run an ad saying they oppose hate.

Oh well, too late now. Or is it?

10. if the CEO draws a salary from marriott, then yes, marriott donated to prop 8
albeit, indirectly. every mormon is required to tithe 10% of their income, and the church will request other donations on top of the tithe for other reasons- like prop 8. ergo, if marriot pays the man a salary or bonus- especially one based on company performance- then they are indirectly funding prop 8.

i realize, that a company has no control of an employee's donations and if we were talking about a hotel manger, or other low or mid-level employee, this wouldn't be an issue. but we are talking about the CEO, and if the company's profits drop becuase it is perceived to be promoting an anti-civil rights agenda sponsered by the CEO, then the shareholders will force him out to restore profitability. so in my opinion (and it is just my opinion), by all means, boycott marriott!

8. PG&E, Levi Straus, Dreamworks & LucasFilms also donated BIG bucks....
And numerous high tech companies like Yahoo, Apple, etc. took out a full page ad in the San Jose Mercury News denouncing Prop 8 and urging people to vote NO.

link: http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/081030/aqth064.html

Please join us by reaching out to friends and neighbors and asking them to stand for fairness: Vote No on Proposition 8 on November 4th. I find it disturbing and extemely hypocritical however that Google's name is listed among those in the ad, and prominently so. Google accepted thousands of $$$ in advertising from Yes on 8 and ran their slimy, deceptive banner ads EVERYWHERE all over the internet. Fuckers.
