1. So sad, yet so beautiful
Imagine how many whackjobs would want to take this lovely child away from his "moms".

2. As a dad of two, but not as a person with any legal expertise, I've wondered at
times about a lawsuit on behalf of kids of gay couples in pursuit of marriage rights.

In families that are denied equal rights with other families, it's kids who are in some ways the most vulnerable.

5. I thought No on 8 should have run ads with kids of same sex parents talking
about their families, and about how happy their weddings were.

6. Been there, tried that - sort of.
Our daughter was denied the right to have two legal parents expressly because our marriage is not recognized.

In Ohio - and most states - in order for a child to be adopted by a legal stranger, the biological parent(s) must forfeit their parental rights. The only exception is for stepparents. If a biological parent is married to someone who is not related to the child, the biological parent does not have to give up his/her parental rights in order for his/her spouse to adopt his/her stepchild. We asked, essentially, that the stepparent exception be applied to our daughter so that my spouse could adopt our (my biological) daughter. (Massachusetts and a few other states have granted second parent adoption on this basis). The court denied it because our marriage is not recognized - and therefore there is no stepparent relationship.

On a slightly ironic note, that daughter voted for the first time in a general election this month - she voted against the judge who denied her relationship with my spouse :D Unfortunately, he still won, but it was the closest race he has ever had.

7. If they really cared about children and other human beings
they would not have stirred up such a hate sh*t storm.

They love power and money and power and money.

Really touching picture.
