Mormons denounce anti-Prop 8 protests
(Salt Lake City, Utah) After receiving hoax mailings containing a white powder, the Mormon church is blaming opponents of California’s gay marriage ban for recent “attacks” while an allied group condemned “acts of domestic terrorism against our supporters.”

Investigators have not publicly cited any evidence that the mailings were linked to the Mormon church’s support of the measure, and a gay rights group in Utah denied that gay protesters were involved.

The letters were sent to the Salt Lake City headquarters of the church, where powder spilled on a mail clerk’s hand, and to a temple in Los Angeles. Both packages tested nontoxic, the FBI said.

The two temples were sites of recent protests against the church’s support for a California ballot initiative that superseded a court decision allowing gay marriage. The Mormon church, whose official name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said it is stepping up security.

<snip>

The backlash has included calls for a boycott of Utah ski resorts and California businesses whose owners donated to the cause.

“Our opponents do not like the outcome and that is to be respected. They fought hard and they feel defeated and that is understandable,” said Frank Schubert, co-manager of the Yes on 8 campaign. “What they do not have the right to do, however, is to harass and intimidate people. And they do not have the right to commit acts of domestic terrorism against our supporters.”

oh did you hear now that public records are 'blacklists' and nobody has the right to choose how they spend their money except members of the LDS church and yes on 8 coalition?

"They fought hard and they feel defeated and that is understandable"

Feel defeated? No. Anger? Rage? The urge to fight back? Oh yes. But not defeated. Not now and never again.

12. The Mormon church is known for making up shit...
Mormon churches were vandalized and they got nasty mail BEFORE the prop 8 crap. The Mormons love to spread the, 'We're so persecuted.' meme, which is a huge part of the Mormon psyche.

15. Kiss my ol' lady hiney, Yes-On-H8ers!
Grow a spine, if you're so proud of what you have done, for I am going to hold you responsible. I will NOT being buying your products, for the most part (in other words, I may have to in an emergency, or do something if it relates to a huge investment of mine); I'm going to make every effort I reasonably and conceivably can to spend my dollars elsewhere.

I'm going to direct some of those dollars (all I can) to the legal fight (see my sig line). We will win out - soon!

18. Waaaahhhhhh
They can suck it up. After what they've done to us they have nothing to complain about over some boycotts and protests. The white powder stuff was probably phony so they could claim they're being terrorized by Teh Gays. Let's take away their rights and then they can really cry.

19. They better have proof BEFORE they pass judgment on the hoax letter
this nation already went through persecuting one man for this while another eventually admitted guilt and killed himself.

Prove it was anyone from opposing H8.

Bearing false witness is a sin.

20. The Mormons are famous for false flag efforts
The Mountain Meadows Massacre and the decades long cover up, using the same sort of peal clutching rhetoric they are using against gay people today, tells me all I need to know about the morality of the institutional LDS in regard to attacking their own, framing others, and pretending indignation when the truth comes out.
