God smites the gays with wildfires
It was only a matter of time before some psychotic theo-fascist tried to pin the California wildfires on gay people and marriage equality supporters, a group that, for the record, includes a large number of people of genuine faith. Leave it to the self-anointed Ayatollah of Hillcrest, James Hartline, to not disappoint.

The ex-gay Mr Hartline has stepped up to say that gay people and their supporters are “shouting so loud for the acceptance of homosexuality, that they cannot hear the thunderous warnings of God.” The homo-sex-obsessed Mr Hartline further observes that this isn’t the first time that his God has whacked the Golden State for its tolerance: “Each time homosexual activists attempt to force their agenda on California, there have been raging, massive, incinerating fires sweeping across the California landscape.”

<snip>

Click here for the post itself. It's a bit long, so I won't post it here. You can read excepts from the link below. -- meegbear

<snip>

Forget that the majority of California wildfires are the result of deliberate arson, faulty power towers, careless smokers, and other human causations, because Hartline’s God tells him He has it in for the “the advocates of sexual anarchy.” Forget that the wildfires are not raging in San Francisco, West Hollywood and Hillcrest; in fact they’re hitting areas that in many cases voted to eliminate marriage equality in California. Forget reality altogether because James Hartline’s God tells him that He is willing to inflict tragedy on innocent people to punish the enemies of James Hartline.

Hartline asks, “How low will we go?” Frankly, it’s not possible to go any lower than James Hartline.

6. Hey I live in Buffalo we could do wth (non fatal) warmth here
Why does God never punish us with wildfires or CA gays with snow, especially at the same time when it would be useful?

Set in his ways that God - always uses the same phenomena to punish each region regardless of its gay population ratio or legal climate.

10. First thing that popped into my mind
was what one of Pam's posters came up with: AIDS-related dementia. I've seen it and it's as sad as Alzheimers. It is possible that the man is being used as a tool. But I kinda doubt it.

On the other hand, he could be lucid and self-loathing. I've seen that particular nastiness way too much. That usually ends badly, too, with pictures. The amount of denial and condemnation are almost always proportional to the amount to meth and sneakin' (can we say Haggard?).

(As for Haggard, I don't care what that one claims these days. Anyone who plays with meth and hookers is a bigtime, heavy-duty bottom. Period. I'm old and I have seen. It. All.)

And btw, if G'd is smiting California for having Teh Gayz, why is SHe burning up Republican strongholds?

Just askin'.

If that's so, Westmont College in Montecito must be a hotbed of homosexual activity, even though it's a Christian college. It suffered severe damage in the fires.

13. This Man And All Like Him...
are psychotics and dangerous psychotics to boot. I only worry about LGBTQ people who may be bashed or murdered because of his insane ravings. Hopefully, with time, the influence of him and others like him will decrease to the point where few, if any, listen to him.

You'd think that areas that are burning would have voted against Prop 8. Instead areas which voted FOR it are the areas burning. God might be upset with the bigots instead of those who voted for the right of LGBTQ people to wed. Of course, only things which can be used against LGBtQ people will be considered by these idiots.

BTW, bluedawg, loved you calling Hartline a "battle-ax"--spot on!

he actually turns on what he is trying to suppress with-in himself with a real venegance and hatred. I wonder if the deal is to work super hard to gain the respect of those he thinks hate him, the super grovelling and over the top display, "See, I'm not like that....anymore?"

Should be a psych study written about this vigilante, I bet he could generate a couple dozen PhD disserations with his looneyness.

20. how prescient of god to decimate san diego with wild fires a year in advance
hartline's all knowing god, seeing in advance that san diego would have the largest protest against prop 8 in the country, sent wildfires to rage across san diego's north county almost a year in advance of the prop h8 protests- what a brilliant preemptive strike strategy , especially when you consider that san diego's north county is a reliable republican stronghold. guess those pro-gay rights conservative republicans were ignoring the "thunderous warnings of god".

what. a . douche.

21. my theory of the ex-gays
you know what an ex-gay is? an individual who sends out such a overwhelmingly creepy vibe, that even in the notoriously easy-to-get-laid gay community, no one would touch them with a ten-foot pole (pardon the pun). so they turn to fundamentalism as revenge, and preach hatred against those who rightfully rejected them- all the while still praying on the inside for a dude to like them. not so pretty.

22. They tried this a decade or so ago when Florida had a bunch of wildfires
and it was shortly after Orlando had allowed gay pride flags to be flown. Granted, they just rented out the flag spaces to anyone. And some GLBT group had rented them for whatever gay pride day or parade or whatever was going on at the time. And the fires were nowhere near the city itself. But by golly, it's punishment from Gawd Allmighty.

Don't they know anything about what the rainbow symbolizes or God's covenant with Noah? I wish those idiots would open up the Bibles they use as weapons and read them every once in a while. They gripe my fucking ass.

For those who don't want to see the Bible stuff in GLBT, please don't read this.

For those who want to know what I'm talking about:
It was God's covenant with Noah, the guy with the fancy, ginormous ark. God said he won't destroy the Earth any more. He put the rainbow in the clouds to remind us and Him of that covenant. It is symbolized by the rainbow as a covenant with all living beings on this planet.

It's Genesis 9:11 - 9:17

Gen 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

Gen 9:12 And God said, This the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that with you, for perpetual generations:

Gen 9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

Gen 9:14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

Gen 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

Gen 9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that upon the earth.

Gen 9:17 And God said unto Noah, This the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that upon the earth.

I DO wish they'd shut the fuck up with their pharisee-like bullshit mouth drippings. False prophets, that's what they are. They are the real demons, not us. We are simply asking to be treated as human beings by our government.

This guy is a full fledged dipshit.

think that's all he punishes.

Obviously he/she would be just as concerned about punishing people start fights for no reason.
