This is a couple of years old, but I just ran across it while checking Joan Jett on YouTube. (I've always adored her because she plays the cleanest Rock 'n' Roll in town.)

What's your take on the cutaway to the audience just as they start to embrace?

Ellen, like Letterman, tends to go over time limits for her segments and has very little time for her last guests because she has used up all her time by the time she gets to them.

You could be right though. When it came to editing, did they REALLY need to pan to the audience at that particular time? Good point.
