1. Does the bill allow it or prevent it?
The office web filter is blocking the link.

2. prevent
The first line of the article is "Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas says he will oppose legislation allowing same-sex marriages - a move likely to scuttle the bill expected to be introduced in January."

Goes on to say that he thinks the civil unions law is "sufficient."

7. So the people and legislature of VT think gay marriage is a good idea...
...but this douchebag thinks the second-class status is good enough. I suppose he has some compelling reason to oppose it. I hope he says what that reason is because so far all I've heard is some crap about tradition and Abrahamic folk prejudices.

4. Civil Unions sufficient for a RePig Gov? Noes!
Repigs are insufficient to decide our human rights! Mis-labels reich wing agenda as middle of the road bull sh*t.

Gov, you ARE Insufficient!

Stay The Course With Gov. Jim Douglas

Caledonian Record -- When Vermonters go to the polls on Nov. 4, they will have a choice between gubernatorial candidates who are poles apart philosophically and politically.

Gaye Symington is a liberal who believes in much bigger government and has proposed and supported new taxes to support new programs that she thinks we need. She is anti-nuclear power and would shut down Vermont Yankee, even though nuclear power at Vermont Yankee accounts for 40 percent of the state's power and is, by far, our cheapest source of power. She (his opponent) is pro gay marriage, pro socialized medicine, and pro virtually every issue that decorates the liberal agenda. She has refused to publish her income tax records, choosing to cob together phony forms that hide more than they reveal.

There is no discernible difference between Anthony Pollina and Gaye Symington except that he is so much farther left of her that he almost (but not quite) makes her seem conservative. In fact, Pollina couldn't decide at the beginning of his run for governor whether or not he was a Progressive or a Democrat. He started out being a Democrat, then abandoned that party when it didn't embrace him, and finally returned to his Progressive roots.

Jim Douglas, on the other hand, is a moderate conservative who does not believe in cradle-to-grave government, nor will he, willy-nilly, support expensive new entitlement programs funded by new or expanded taxes. He is fully aware of the precarious nature of the nation's and the state's economic conditions and he is already preparing to meet, head-on, what could be a huge revenue shortfall in the next year. He supports nuclear power, traditional marriage, responsible education reform, Jessica's Law, and a generally middle-of-the-road agenda. His personal vita, unlike Gaye Symington's, is transparent.

9. Yet Another Example of Why The "Incremental Approach"
to this issue is BULLSHIT.

Once stuck with useless Civil Unions you will NEVER move up to full marriage rights!

11. And yet a survey shows public support FOR marriage...

As stated in the article:
"A public opinion survey earlier this year found that the majority of people in the state believe gay and lesbian couples should have the right to marry."
