Idol Winner David Cook Attacks Prop 8
What a good guy :loveya:

American Idol winner David Cook said in an interview Friday that he is a firm believer in equal rights and tolerance, and that he definitely would have voted against Proposition if he was a California resident.

"You know...I was not able to vote for Prop 8 because I'm not a resident of Los Angeles but I would have loved to have seen it (go) the other way. Human rights is human rights and I don't really see how sexuality parlays into whether or not you're a human being," Cook told Logo's NewNowNext.

"I grew up in a really cool area of the country where tolerance was kind of the norm. I can't recall at any point in my life ever feeling uncomfortable about sexuality whether it be my own or anyone else's...It's an interesting time to be a homosexual in this country. I hope that very soon we get to this point where we look back now, on women's rights and that struggle in the 20's - I hope this is another hurdle this country can overcome really quick."

3. Is he gay? "It's an interesting time to be a homosexual in this country"
If so, sure took a lot less time to come out than Clay Aiken - even though that one was so much more obvious

18. Maybe little David can purchase a copy of the controversial
Mormon Mission Calendar!

(Unless he already has one hanging on his wall)

Mormon missionary calendar-maker excommunicated

The creator of a calendar that featured shirtless Mormon missionaries was excommunicated Sunday after a disciplinary meeting with local church leaders in Las Vegas.

Chad Hardy said he bears no ill will toward the council of elders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“I felt like I spoke my truth,” the 31-year-old entertainment entrepreneur said. “Bottom-line, they still felt the calendar is inappropriate and not the image that the church wants to have.”

“Men on a Mission,” which has sold nearly 10,000 copies at $14.99 each, included pictures of 12 returned missionaries wearing black slacks, but not their trademark white shirts, in modest poses. The men also were photographed in traditional missionary garb and share their religious beliefs in biographical sketches.

Some of the 12 models have also been called to disciplinary meetings, but none were punished.

But even if he's straight, Goddess knows we can always use more allies.

AS for his saying that it is an "interesting time to be homosexual in this country, gay or straight, he is absolutely right. I haven't seen this much massive activism on the part of the LGBTQ community since the late 60s/early 70s. I suspect that the passage of Prop H8 and similar propositions/ amendments has made LGBTQ people all across the country wake up and realise that RW fundamentalism is alive and well in this country and that we will have to fight for our rights. Maybe it has got to a point where LGBT people have begun to say,
"I'm mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore!"

I am always happy when someone in an influential position, no matter how small that influence might be, saying that they support full civil rights for all. I wish him all the best and will definitely get his CD as soon as I can afford it. Bless you, David.:)

BTW, what is the name of his CD?
