Healthcare Protest / Sit-in - Day #10: Massive Fundraiser for Protesters

The leader of the Memphis Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) says the organization is launching a massive fundraiser for the TennCare protesters.

As many as 450 Churches may participate.

Rev. Dwight Montgomery said: "The brothers unanimously agreed that they would go to their respective churches and receive an offering this Sunday and we would pool those resources on Tuesday of next week and deliver those monies to the protesters."

They are going to be there until they get what they are asking for -- until the Governor commits that people who are qualified and should have TennCare should not be disenrolled."

According to Kevin Lofton, from the Memphis Center for Independent Living: "You've got people who need life giving medications, life giving therapies, life giving medical treatments and when you take that away from them, as our governor wants to do, they're gonna die."

Listen to the People, Governor Bredesen!
