Man Dies: Slimebag Gov. Bredesen Saves Money Via Medicaid Cuts
Watch Tennessee go Republican next year and be sure to thank Slimebag DINO Bredesen when it happens. Cuz I don't know a soul who can bring themselves to vote for the so-called democrat. I sure won't.

"An East Tennessee man's lack of needed medicines — which had been capped by TennCare — was a contributing factor to his death last month, his doctor found, noting it on the death certificate."

"On August 1, they cut everything down to five prescriptions, and he had been on 12, 13 counting the insulin,'' said . "There was no way I could pay $700 out for medicine. I didn't have it. If I did, I would have.''

In the same article, the doctor makes the point that the man was seriously ill and it was the illness that caused his death. Yes, but in the advanced nations of the world seriously ill people take meds in order to stay alive.

But according to Governor Bredesen, this state cannot afford to offer the benefits of modern medicine to its sick, disabled, elderly and poor. The Governor has cut some 200,000 from the state's expanded Medicaid program and capped prescription benefits. Cuz Medicaid is a lot like socialism, or so says the Governor.....

2. Social Darwinism Marches On

Interesting how the Repugs and their fellow travelors are a perverse coalition of anti-biological-Darwinist religious zealots and pro-social-Darwinist economic zealots.

And, of course, the kill-em-all neocons.

3. Must be nice to know you are covered for life, like Bredesen.
Hope he dies a painful one, too.

4. In his defense, while I disagree with his decision, let me just add
that there have been huge cuts in federal funding and states are struggling with budgets- thanks to the republicans in office.

Hopefully they will get someone to run for the dem seat who has a better grasp of priorities than this boob, but at the same time, the real problem is the republican's insistence on tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the poor. Electing more republicans isn't the solution.

5. OMFG! Thanks Egalia for posting this!!
I'm sick to my stomach! I read the good Gov's philosophy regarding Medicaid. What an SOB!! He must be one of them "New Democrats" taking over the party.

I'm fully aware that the feds are not supporting the states for such programs; that such programs are being gutted across the country...BUT for a so-called Dem(?)Gov to say what he did is worthy of having his ass kicked from here to eternity. What gall!! :grr:
Does Tenn. not pay any taxes at all? Can't they raise them for such programs? I'm furious and so sorry for my fellow Americans in that state and other states doing the same thing.

SOCIALIST SOCIALISM SO WHAT? It means a country/government that cares for it's g.damned TAX PAYERS; for the wellbeing of the whole So...ci...et...y. The local fire dept, a police dept, and schools must be socialist ideas too then??? Fercripesake!

I came into DU this eve to find out about Medicare/medicaid cuts and I find this. UNFREAKINGCONSCIONABLE!! I just KNEW this was going to happen--people left to die for want of a few bits of medicine. Hells bells, bring in the freaking doctors without borders--we've become a third world country!!!!!

Thanks for the info...SB
