Are 10,000 deaths a year acceptable? Please help!

Summary:11/19/2003--Introduced.
Hepatitis C Epidemic Control and Prevention Act - Amends the Public Health Service Act to direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to develop and implement a plan for the prevention, control, and management of hepatitis C virus (HCV), which shall include strategies for education and training, surveillance and early detection, and research.
Directs the Secretary to: (1) conduct a biennial plan assessment; (2) support voluntary State, local, and tribal HCV testing and counseling programs; (3) provide for the vaccination of HCV-infected individuals against hepatitis A and B and other infectious diseases; (4) support the establishment and maintenance of HCV surveillance databases; and (5) establish and support a Hepatitis C Clinical Research Network.
Authorizes the Secretary to award grants to States, political subdivisions of States, Indian tribes, or nonprofit entities to carry out activities under this Act.
Requires the Director of the National Institutes of Health to establish a Liver Disease Research Advisory Board.

Thanks for the info.

I couldn't bring up the info; although by putting in the words of the bill exactly, the site says there is 1 bill such as that, but doesn't give a link to go to it?

I am very interested because I know of an Exxon Valdez oil spill worker who was strongly exposed to the 2-butoxyethanol in Inipol EAP 22 who came down with Hepatitis C (& lots more) But I also see that many others seem to have liver ailments.

Such as autoimmune hepatitis that caused the death of a 10 year old 'gulf war syndrome' vet's child in Dec, 03. He commented, "that she came down with hepititus & her liver shut down and she died within a month. Then the other organs started shutting down

By the way, is SIDS age related? Maybe not as we suspect?
