Anyone else have abusive older siblings while growing up? |
|
It is really sad for me when I see other people who seem to be so close with their families and mine, except for one brother, are really nasty and abusive people. Its really depressing. Basically we don't speak to one another and on the rare occasion that we do have to get together it may, initially, seem like they have changed but the longer we are together, the insults and verbal abuse comes out just as it did when we were kids.

3. My sister is 65 years old |
|
and has been in detox five or six times this year alone. Her disease and resultant bitterness all but destroyed my relationship with my elderly mother during her last five or six years. Any family argument that has happened in three decades she has been the catalyst for.
I feel your pain.

I moved thousands of miles away. After not seeing anyone in my family for about ten years, I visited Christmas 2002. Shortly after one of my brothers arrived, things went back to the way they were. Suddenly I understood the family dynamics. He's a nasty piece of shit and responsible for pushing me out of the family; rhe rest didn't care what he did to me. I plan never to go back.

And once while we were young, I was about 8 and my next brother a year younger than I, got into the medicine cabinet. I took a bite and didn't like the taste so I gave my brother about 10 of those children's aspirins that tasted orange. I guess I did not know that many would hurt him, he just ate them. My mom freaked but my brother is ok. My youngest sibling, a sister insists that I terrorized her, but that may be errant memory at work there. I don't have any memory of her. She was just another person that I put up with.

HA HA! That's a good one.
As the youngest of 5 I can promise you that you did indeed terrorize your youngest sibling.
heheh... "errant memory"... that's rich...

my hubby has been estranged from his family for nine years except for one sister he keeps in contact with(actually its been nice, no fighting or back biting). Only thing that irritates me is that we have moved twice during this time frame and never informed them and there is one brother who always finds out where we live.....and we have an unlisted number. I just feel like he is taunting my hub indicating you can run but not hide I will find you.
