Vaccine FAQ redux
In conjunction with chicagomd's excellent thread I think its time I reposted this. Its a simplified explanation of vaccines and the myths that go along with them. Its in pamphlet form and not quite as heavily scientific as some articles.
(chicagomd--I wrote this with the nonscientist in mind so I made the concepts as basic as possible)
And yes, this is my work.
What are my credentials? I worked on a project at NIH with a world renowned malaria vaccine scientist (250+ publications) including coauthoring the textbook "Molecular Immunological Considerations in Malaria Vaccine Development".
I also had data from this project published in the Procedings from the National Acadamy of Sciences, one of the MOST prestigous peer reviewed scientific .journals
Its a PDF file for downloading, fyi.
Feel free to share.

6. Just more of the same white wash mumbo jumbo.
Paraphrase - "All vaccines are safe and good, and the poor vaccine manufactures don't make a dime in their production."

Here's another piece on "Vaccination Myths".

7. Welcome back MzDisformation!
If you BOTHERED to read it I say NOTHING of that in my paper.
I say that only healthy people should get vaccines. That side effects happen. That manufacturers don't make huge profits on vaccines. which is why 90% aren't made in this country.
Anybody who wants to take scientific advice from somebody who accused me A SCIENTIST of being a janitor..and then claimed to have "critical thinking skills" because they were an ACCOUNTANT and therefore knows ALL the science is just begging for a fatal vaccine preventable illness. Never go out of the country mzmolly. With your fear of vaccines you will probably never return healthy.
BTW, my post has the mark of approval from an MD. What are your creds? Google, I suppose.

8. Your paper was the same old nonsense turtlensue.

Nothing new, though (given the common rhetoric involved) I didn't know you wrote it. I will say, it's interesting you admitted that some react to vaccines though? That's a step forward. However if underlying illness is the reason, should we not understand more about that issue before injecting babies/children en masse?

As for vaccines, I've had all recommended vaccines for those in my age group. Though, I have not had the adult DPT have you? Have you had your gardasil jab yet?

As for my "creds" I rely on actual scientific info for information vs. government propaganda. For example, I defered to the SCIENTIST who actually invented Gardasil vs. you. If you recall she eventually vindicated the concerns of those here who are called "anti-vaccine" here on a regular basis? Funny, as she shared our concerns almost verbatim.

You as "a scientist" aka "lab technician" have had trouble understanding the "science" on occasion, so color me continually unimpressed with your credentials.

9. I don't qualify for gardasil (too old)
And I know far more about the subject than you. For instance I work for the actual company (in the actual lab!) that helped develop and tested Gardasil and ITS NOT MERCK. So all those people like you who whine about Merck running wild with it have no idea where it really came from.

As for you "concern for the children" you also fair to understand that ALL vaccines are tested on children during clinical trials to make sure they are safe for those ages. But I forgot, you can't understand the concept of toxicological studies. I actually now have a lot more access to clinical trial data than the last time I talked to you, and understand the levels of testing that goes in. Its quite complicated and detailed, which you seem to not be able to understand. All the vaccines have had years of studies so we do know that children are fine with them.
In fact there are studies that show children who are vaccinated are less likely to develop allergies and chronic illness because having a young immune sytem stimulated is healthy.
And your claim about the Aussie gardasil scientist is a flat out lie as you well know. Otherwise why do the Aussie's have a HIGHLY successful Gardasil vaccination program for young girls and that scientist named Aussie of the year in 2006.
No, that scientist never agreed with any of your crap. You just cut n paste to make it look like it (a common tactic you anti-vaxxer's love to do)
WHEN I get health insurance I would certainly get the DPT vaccine considering how many adults in this area have pertussis.
And as for my scientific knowledge, I have done both Master's level and PhD level work (experiemental design and statistical analysis) so while some call me "technician"(and actually I have skills that are hard to find) my scientific knowledge is FAR superior than yours and you would be hard pressed to find anyone on this board (except for some of your anti-vaxx woo sock puppets) who would agree with you. You don't even understand basic physiology or immunology.

10. Actually, your work with the vaccine only proves your bias. It does not demonstrate
that you know more than me. Especially given, as I've noted, the scientist who developed the jab shared many of MY concerns. I'd be glad to provide the links to back up my assertion that the scientist in question DID share my concerns if you'd like? In fact, I'm certain I can find posts by you, negating the very concerns Ms. Harper had?

As for the rest of your hogwash, I'm not sure who you're trying to convince? Me, or you?

As for your so called superiority in the scientific realm, I've seen your basic lack of ability to read and understand basic published science, so once again, I remain unimpressed with your credentials. Save your hubris for someone easily intimidated by your lab technician status.

What are your scientific credentials?

when the real stuff you read doesn't fit your plans.

You are a real hoot!

Of course there is the problem that some fools might take you seriously, but I doubt that it will be a big problem.

YOU accused me of being an advocate for drug companies, now you say I'm not an advocate for drug companies.

Your mindless blathering has caused you to contradict yourself.

That's why so many find you so amusing.

Keep digging.
