Some Hannah Montana products test high for lead, lab says
Disney, the owner of character, denies products tainted
09:31 PM CDT on Friday, March 21, 2008
McClatchy Newspapers

ST. LOUIS – An independent laboratory reports that some of Disney's "Hannah Montana" children's products sold at Wal-Mart, Target and Toys 'R Us are contaminated with high levels of lead.

The Center for Environmental Health said it bought 28 Hannah Montana products from retailers and online, and found nine with high levels of lead. The center tests children's products, from lunch boxes to baby bibs.

All Health’s Breaking Loose: FYI on BHT

The Environmental Working Group classifies BHT as a skin, liver and kidney toxicant. We store it in the liver and also in fat, which is why thin people are more at risk for damage. Studies show it promotes cancer and tumor growth. Some people have difficulty metabolizing BHT and experience behavior changes as well as recognizable health changes.

Statements by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in response to a congressional inquiry reveal that the agency’s assertions that infant’s exposures to the toxic plastics chemical BPA in infant formula and baby bottles pose “no safety concern,” are based on two industry-funded studies, one unpublished and the other found to be deeply flawed by BPA experts. FDA’s calculations accompanying these assertions show that some infants are exposed to BPA at levels very close to those linked in lab studies to brain and reproductive system effects.

1. Kicked to the top, recommended, emailed to friends, and thank
you for this.

>>But the Oakland, Calf.-based center says it found a Girls Rock backpack from WalMart.com and a Secret Star wallet from Toys 'R Us had lead content of 1,800 parts per million to 8,300 parts per million. The federal safety standard for lead in paint is 600 parts per million.<<

2. BHT
I see that information about this comes from a Canadian newspaper. Interesting. Here in the "most advanced" country we probably won't see it until it no longer becomes an issue for big business. Yes, I am becoming cynical after watching what this administration does about the safety of our people here.

Thank you for finding this.
