The health care situation in this country makes me sick
I just got off the phone with my wife and she told me that our Aunt who is battling cancer right now is being recommended a chemo treatment that is NOT covered by our Uncle's insurance.

The treatment is going to cost over $100,000.00

2. I'm really sorry about your aunt.
This is happening to people more and more, and the ins co's are cleaning up on the backs of the sick. I ran across this article this morning, and don't know if it's been linked here, but it's worth a repeat with the dastardly deeds of the ins co's making life hell for those who need expensive drugs.

I wish her the best.

4. I read that and can attest to it. I had
my most expensive drug for arthritis refilled last week and was shocked out of my mind when I was charged 72.00. That may not be much for some, but I am on SS and it is a stretch for me. That is through the Medicare "drug program" that congress would not negotiate with the pharmas for. The last time I got the medicine it was 15.00. I sometimes think the pharmas are punishing us for getting old.

5. It would be a stretch for me too.
This will result in people not getting the medicine they need. Back to the dark ages for the USA if we don't get some universal healthcare in this country, and fast.

3. I've been declared uninsurable for 20 years
most of which I spent working as an RN. How's that for irony?

At least I have no illusions about coverage. I know up front that if I get seriously ill, I will die quickly or die broke.

Obama was right about the bitterness in this country. It's happening one sick person at a time as they realize the insurance they've accepted lower wages for, that they've accepted being trapped in work they hate for, and that they're now paying through the nose for is just an illusion, a way to extort money out of them for promises that will never be honored.

People who are scammed are often bitter.

10. Have you checked prices in Mexico?
The federal government sets drug prices there, so you won't need to shop around. Just call any farmacia and they can tell you how much it will be.

He said that the amount of food that he has incountered at resturaunts is overwhelming. He has not been able to finish one meal. I let him know that he looks healthy. He said he is a cancer survivor and that his coverage for the entire treatment was 300.00 dollars.
