High Homocysteine not just for heart disease anymore.....
High homocysteine levels have been tied to irreversible eye disease.... a GOOD B-Complex... (not chemical vitamins but rather amino acid chelates) will drive homocysteine levels down, it is a simple as that.

Link Between High Homocysteine and Irreversible Eye Disease

People suffering from an elevated homocysteine level may have more to worry about than the risk of cardiovascular disease. According to the January issue of the American Journal of Ophthalmology they may also be at increased risk of developing age-related macular degeneration, (AMD).

AMD results in irreversible visual impairment and is the leading cause of blindness in the 60+ years age group. As there are limited treatment options for this disease, prevention is key.

934 individuals were included in this study; 547 AMD sufferers and 387 control subjects. The researchers measured the fasting plasma homocysteine levels of the subjects via blood tests.

Dr Seddon and colleagues noticed that levels of homocysteine were higher in the group suffering from AMD than in the control group, even after controlling for counfounding factors such as age. Levels of homocysteine considered high, above 12mmol/l, were also linked to an increased risk of developing AMD in the future.

The researchers concluded that there are overlapping disease mechanisms which exist between cardiovascular disease and AMD but further studies looking into the link between homocysteine and AMD are warranted.

1. Thank you for this information.
I found a sub lingual B-12, Folic Acid & B-6 combo at Trader Joe's (CA, VA & IL) that I keep in my truck. I sure you can find it at other health food outlets as well. I just put one under my tongue while driving. I also use a good B-100 complex.
