One of my former classmates committed suicide--I just can't wrap my head around it.
I'm in college now, but I just found out a guy who was loved by a lot of my school mates and teachers committed suicide. He wanted to get into film making, and planned on moving to LA to live his dream. It may sound like he was facing impossible odds, but if anyone could do it--it was him. I saw him just a week ago literally at his workplace where me and a friend went to eat. He was our waiter, and he seemed all over the place. I didn't think anything of it till now.

I found out today he committed suicide after taking a bunch of pills and using a gun to end his life. I've had a few other former classmates do the same thing, so I just can't put my head around it.

I know the pain of depression, and I too have attempted suicide. It's really hard now looking back to then, and realizing how out of touch with reality you are when you're at the low point of wanting to take your own life. I've come so far it's hard to grasp that kind of thinking anymore. So much potential and possibility he had in the world. And now it's gone.

I just wanted to share his story. I've always grappled with depression, to this day. It's just hard to see mental health take someone I used to see on a daily basis. May Matt R.I.P.

1. You should probably go find a professional to talk to for yourself, too.
Suicide seems to spread like a virus sometimes.

4. I've dealt with depression since I was 15 years old.
Call it stubborn, but I prefer to deal with it on my own. Maybe it's not rational, but I've always been able to deal with it better on my own than with help. That's just my own personal situation, and I'm proud to say I have depression under control and while I deal with it--I don't let it overtake my life.

3. My heart is with you, Kerry2008.
Depression is VERY misunderstood and underestimated in our society, and the results are so tragic.

Peace and love, friend.

5. No words for you...
I've experienced with family members and friends. I stand on watch with an immediate family member who is bipolar. It hurts terribly, and the hurt never goes away, because you always wonder what you could do to make it better.

I hope this doesn't sound insensitive--Matt made the choice he wanted to make...sometimes we have to see it that way, and see it as him freeing himself from whatever tormented him here on earth.

Many hugs to you...I know how you are hurting tonight. :loveya:

7. I take Lexapro for depression. I lived in a battle (of sorts) for years.
It's really no fun to Fight your depression when a simple pill seems to ease (almost) all the pain.

But your mileage my vary. :)
