Looking for assitance groups for my disabled sister
My sister is a double amputee, catastrophically ill lifelong diabetic, housebound. She was recently moved into a new apartment by volunteers, and one of them apparently dropped her computer and smashed it. I've been trying to google up charitable organizations that get computer donations, refurbish them, and give them to folks like her. Not having alot of luck yet. Any suggestions?

Also, I just got off the phone once again with the cancer treatment center administrator, as my sister is also undergoing chemo for bone cancer. I just reamed this admin a couple weeks ago because, my sister's doctor, who apparently has the bedside manner of a turnip, basically told her she had 3-4 months to live if the chemo didn't work, and then shoved her out the door after collecting her Medicaid. She also has a history of mental illness (who wouldn't?!), and of course, is severely depressed now. This doctor is not addressing that whatsoever, has his staff ask a few general questions, and that's it. Their website advertises how caring and personal they are--what bullshit! I have left numerous messages for this guy to call me to discuss her situation, and gotten no response. The admin assured me she would have him call. He has not, and this has been going on for a month. I am livid.

So I told this admin, you said when I talked to you last, you would take care of this. When I talked to my sister yesterday, she had just come back from chemo treatment. She said the doctor barely said two words to her, and his staff mentioned nothing. Do you treat all cancer patients in this cavalier manner, or only the ones on Medicaid? Of course, she's blustering, and assures me again that she will resolve. She asks, has your sister said she needed help? I said, have you ever known anyone who is severely depressed? They can be really good at covering. HELP HER!

Any suggestions here? She also said she'd try to advise her on hospice care, as she has none. I'm in Calif, my sister is in the midwest.
thx

1. You might try the Alameda County Computer Resource Center
I looked at your profile and saw that you listed California as your location. These people may be able to help with the computer or point you in the right direction.

2. I am sorry for the way your sister is being treated -- I was unable to get
any medical help when I had Medicaid from the MCO I signed up with which was a horrible joke of Johns Hopkins who used the MCO Priority Partners to pretend they were giving care to Medicaid patients to get subsidies from Government appropriations and National Institute of Health esp. National Eye Institute.

I belong to Social Security Disabilities Coalition and they are still active and very nice, supportive people with some practical links so you could write to them or visit their site at MSM groups.

3. Some research sites to consider
Edited on Fri Jan-20-06 11:52 PM by philb
Are you looking for help with suggestions that might improve her health?

Toxic exposures are a cause of all the conditions that she has, and its possible to test to find what toxic exposures that she has.
hair element test such as vrp.com or bodybalance.com
other tests if you want to go through a series of tests

Although it would have been better to do such tests a long time ago, you have to consider what you are trying to accomplish and
make decisions. There are medical labs and medical related organizations that provide information on tests and doctors, etc.
such as GSDL(www.gsdl.com) and IAOMT(www.iaomt.org) and DAMS(800-311-6265) etc. www.home.earthlink.net/~bernie1/indexd.html

Given the circumstances and time, you might assume she has toxic exposures since virtually everyone does and have some safe general detox like colonics(everyone has toxic buildup in intestines over time) or BioCleanse/IonCleanse epsum salt footbaths or etc.
The National Cancer Institute has information on their web site- for example they recommend taking the immune booster Astragalous in conjunction with chemotherapy. There are also other proven immune boosters(that medical studies support)documented to improve the immune function of people with chronic conditions available from vrp.com shaklee.com mannatech.com etc.
(these all are supported by peer reviewed studies but others might be also- do your homework)

You might read Hulda Clark's best selling book: A Cure of All Cancers and look into Gerson Clinic cancer treatment which is well known (maybe www.gerson.org) Hulda Clark's book gives info on a commonly used liver detox protocol that appears to be safe(I've used it) and I know someone personally who was cured of "incurable" breast cancer at a Gerson Clinic.

Also look into the peer-reviewed medical studies on cancer related to glyconutrients at:
