Eggs Enhance Dieters' Weight Loss
Interesting article...

Excerpt:

Eggs may be more effective than other foods when used as part of a diet, according to a new study released by Louisiana State University researchers Sunday.

Overweight women lost more weight during the course of their diets eating eggs for breakfast than they did eating bagels, according to the report, released at the annual meeting of Experimental Biology and funded by the Egg Nutrition Center and the American Egg Board.

Nikhil Dhurandhar, lead researcher for the study, said the eggs cause people to feel fuller longer, thus reducing the temptation to continue eating.

"While it's been well-established that foods such as eggs that contain the highest quality protein help people feel full longer, we were surprised at how definite these findings were," he said. "The women who consumed eggs as part of their diet plan lost significantly more weight, had greater reductions in waist circumference and reported significantly higher energy levels."

1. Well of course
Forgive me, I didn't read the entire article. But it's only common sense to understand that eggs are a quality protein and bagels are rife with carbs/calories.

My concern is that for those who may feel that eating eggs on a bagel will help them lose more weight.

2. The mainstay for breakfast (important in the early stages) in one of the popular..
"eat correct to lose weight" schedules....and it definitely works for me.
You can buy a lower cholesterol egg product. This works for men, too. :)

3. Your liver produces 80% of the cholesterol in your body.
Eating cholesterol isn't going to make much of an impact. There have been more and more peer reviewed articles lately that debunk the lipid hypothesis i.e. that hogh cholesterol causes heart disease.

4. Eating schedules?
Not to sound silly or anything, but is there an actual schedule suggestion online somewhere? I'm working on losing weight through weight watchers. I've done pretty good so far, but when things get really busy - I find it hard to get the time I need to calculate the points. I'd love to get an idea of what I can easily go for, when counting isn't possible.

5. I hate to use the word 'diet' ..We aren't suppose to..
act as practitioners on DU.
We are following one of the popular 'regimes...then' and the great thing is that
this one doesn't call for strict calorie counting or portion
control...and they are correct...eventually you just
eat what the time of the day and energy needs dictate...

6. If energy density refers to the number of calories, then what
this says is that people eating eggs lost more weight than people eating the same number of calories in bagels. So much for the simplistic theory that total calories in minus expended calories determines weight gain or loss!
