Pleasant surprise when I went to the Doctor yesterday. Posted |
|
in plain sight was a list of all the stores that offer the $4.00(3 months for about $10.00) list of Generic drugs. Perhaps these particular stores are only in New England but the fact that the list was posted tells me that my Doctor cares that we get the best deal he can find.
I know some of the drugs are not yet available in Generic but it pays to check them all and check often. The lists vary in each store and new ones are added frequently.
In my area (Massachusetts):
The list is: Walmart Target Walgreens Hannaford's Stop & Shop.
As a bonus, Walgreens said the special rate can be used for Pet Prescriptions. Which, by the way, I found out that drug stores sell the exact-in many cases-pills for pets at the same price. Pays to ask.
Years ago, the Vet prescribed Prednisone for my cat. Very pricey at the vets. Rite-Aid was far cheaper for what the pharmacist told me was the exact same pill.
Some of the pills that are over the counter and very prices are on the list too. If you take something that is readily available yet can be written as a prescription, it pays to ask the Doc to write you a script.

I never thought about pet prescriptions being included. I know we have a Walgreens around here someplace :-).

2. THANKS! I'm going to call our Dr.'s office on Mon and ask them to do the same! |
|
I took the time to print the list from each store that does that here in N. Ga. and had my husband take them with him for his last appointment to see if there were any drugs he could take in place of the ones he was taking or some that were the same but had a different name, but if the Dr.'s office had those lists already, it would save HIM & ME a lot of time!

It doesn't really work for all meds... As my doctor told me, not all generics are as good as the brand (my anti-seizure meds for example).

6. My cat has a special prescription card from Walgreens. It says |
|
Mittens Brautigan on it. I have health insurance and co-pay, so I guess I can't get the card. But I think his name on it is funny.
