My daughter just died this morning because she couldn't get medical help through the state of Washington. Her blood pressure killed her because she couldn't get medical coupons. She was $3 over the state limit. As far as I'm concerned the State of Washington might as well have killed her. How many must die before you idiots get the message?

I worked in a contracting position that offered no benefits. Despite my low income I still made too much to be able to buy into the state-run health care plan. I had a few worsening health issues at the time; all I could do was hope I didn't need to be hospitalized. Private insurance rates were laughable. The whole damn system is such a joke.

And I must say that I am sorry. I run a clinic in the US but retain my Canadian citizenship so I have experience on both sides of the border as a provider and patient and I will take the Canadian system any day.

Do you know what you never see in Canada? Those posters that are in every gas station in the US that I have ever been in which have the picture of some kid or family advertising a fundraiser to pay for someones next surgery or cancer treatment.

Think for a moment why those posters don't exist in Canada.

And think that we can afford universal care in the US right now without paying another dime more than we already are.
