In a nutshell
If you work fulltime, pay taxes and don't break the law, you deserve a minimum of food, shelter and health insurance. Anything else does not deserve to be called the first world even.

People need work to give meaning to life.
Full employment should be a key part of our economic policies.

We may have to wait until those making 60K and over are being
hit until it hurts.

Has anyone else ever observed that as long as this group
is content, there will never be need for change. After all
our system is geared this way.

There are many other possibilities, as you well know.

Establishing a minimum standard that a society is capable of meeting, and providing to that standard, is human decency.
