can Obama count on 51 votes in the Senate? |
|
if so, I would suggest that 51 Senators sign a discharge petition that would bring the House version of health care, to the floor.
then force, a REAL filibuster, with Senators reading the phone book, quorum calls at 4 AM, etc. the 45 or so troublemakers will eventually give up. ................................ BTW, I think the chickenshits we got now should be forced to watch the Hollywood movie, 'Mr. Smith goes to Washington', so they can learn how to be Senators.

2. With 58 Senators it would be sad if the Dems could not count on 51. |
|
If Republicans had 58 they would laugh at the idea of not getting 51.

3. If there's a tie, then the VP, as President of the Senate, would break that tie. |

4. Where is Jimmy Carter when we need him? |

Legislative leadership starts in the White House. We have a House bill, we have Senate suggestions, but no definitive leadership from the boss. At least Jimmy got the Panama Canal, SALT II and an ABM treaty.
