There's a company which advertises their lower costs because "we eliminate the middleman"
("Original Mattress Factory")

Obama should embrace that catchphrase for Single-payer ... the "middle man" is the administrative costs of the "for-profit" insurance companies.

1. Then there are the non-profit insurance companies like BC/BS.
Huge bonuses for exec's, big new office buildings, just like the "for profit" companies. I feel they are no better than the rest of the health insurance companies.

I would really love to see the requirements and regulations for the non-profit companies. Are they audited to make sure the requirements are met? Call me skeptical, but I don't believe they are non-profit. If they make so much money that they can pay multi-million dollar retirement packages, huge multi-million dollar bonuses, how do the words "non-profit" fit the picture? Certainly a lot of people profit from their existence.

2. i have a question about BCBS..... if they are 'non profit' then how do they have
so much money to sponsor things.... like at the museum and a whole bunch of other things.... i can't help but wonder why they are taking money that is supposed to go towards the healthcare of their consumers and putting it so many other places.

3. Good point, I forgot about all their sponsorships and of course,
there is all the advertising they do. I bet it is many millions of dollars a year. Per state!

4. someone's making a profit at BCBS, but not stock holders
I think that with a non profit, there are no stock holders.

But management of BCBS is making itself rich of course, through salaries.
