Pulmonary Hypertension
Please notice the "which may" at the bottom of this paper. It's very hard indeed for the ignored to acknowledge that naturally occurring substances could have effects such as these.

Proliferation of pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells, endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress, and inflammation promotes the development of pulmonary hypertension. Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound that exerts antioxidant and anti-inflammatory protective effects in the systemic circulation, but its effects on pulmonary arteries remain poorly defined. The present study was undertaken to investigate the efficacy of resveratrol to prevent pulmonary hypertension. Rats injected with monocrotaline progressively developed pulmonary hypertension. Resveratrol treatment (25 mg/kg per day, PO, from day 1 postmonocrotaline) attenuated right ventricular systolic pressure and pulmonary arterial remodeling, decreased expression of inflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin 1beta, interleukin 6, and platelet-derived growth factor-alpha/beta), and limited leukocyte infiltration in the lung.

Resveratrol also inhibited proliferation of pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells. Treatment of rats with resveratrol increased expression of endothelial NO synthase, decreased oxidative stress, and improved endothelial function in small pulmonary arteries. Pulmonary hypertension was associated with an upregulation of NAD(P)H oxidase in small pulmonary arteries, which was significantly attenuated by resveratrol treatment. Our studies show that resveratrol exerts anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiproliferative effects in the pulmonary arteries, which may contribute to the prevention of pulmonary hypertension.

1. See? I knew it!
I've been saying this all along, but no one believed it because I was wearing my Harvard sweatshirt.

Or are you just a ornery fool who cuts and pastes from medical journals?

Edit: My guess is you are a first year med student who thinks a little knowledge actually impresses people.

7. No one here has trouble with reading compre-
hension.

And your expertise with cutting and copying is impressive.

I'm sure you had a point - known only to you - in posting this cut-and-copy job, but I'm also sure you're the only one to whom that meaning has been revealed..............................

9. Isn't it better to
cut and paste something rather than just post a blind link OR WORSE a link to another DU forum?
I think it is. That's just me.

11. Oh, that crap -
posting the link with some sort of cryptic Subject Line, or, as you note, a link to another DU forum is as annoying as the people who post stuff that means something only to them - i.e., "I just saw my reflection in the bathroom mirror, and, boy, am I gorgeous!"

No matter what the set-up, when something bizarre is posted without explanation, it demands response.

That's just me.................:)

The Harvard sweat shirt was a red herring! I thought you were referring to Resveratrol being derived from wine.
Oh well.

18. My op was intentionally cryptic. My intent is to show that perhaps,
just perhaps some naturally occurring substances that BELONG in the human body, when in short supply.... RESULT IN UNRESTRAINED INFLAMMATION, IMMUNE SYSTEM ACTIVITY/IMBALANCE etc. In other words... what is coming out is very positive for all of us.... and resveratrol is cool. Better taken in supplement form... that is if you drive a vehicle or if you need to be cognizant on the job.
