Is it legal to buy drugs from Canada?
I got an ad in the mail yesterday from a pharmacy in Canada listing all the drugs that they sell. It states that their drugs are made in India. And they have a price list. The difference in cost is absolutely amazing - hundreds of dollars off for 90 pills.

All you have to do is send them a prescription from your doctor or a copy of the label on the bottle or a pharmacy receipt. You have to have a prescription. And they don't sell controlled drugs or insulin.

Since my insurance pays for just about nothing I would be interested in doing this if I ever need a prescription.

1. Your first thought should be
are these drugs coming from a real pharmacy in Canada? Make sure you know they're for real or you could be getting baking powder instead. Also find out who in India is making the drugs. If it's Ranbaxy or Dr. Reddy's you're probably OK. If it's Vijay's pill palace I'd pass. ;-)

I don't know the laws with mail order but if you travel to Canada you are allowed to return with a 90 day supply from a pharmacy.

2. I bought drugs from Canada for years. They came in the same packaging that I got locally and were
either made in the USA or England. I bought Lysodren (US cost about $6 a tablet) for my Cushings' syndrome dog.

3. I can't tell you how "legal" it is.
I do know what happens if ICE finds them. Nothing. If it is not an abuse-potential drug, they usually ignore it. If it happens to be a "naughty" drug, they confiscate it and send you a form letter describing the contents and suggesting ways to claim your property (don't bother, you'll just get mired in bureaucrats). I'd suggest *not* ordering 1000 pseudophedrine pills...

I've been ordering internet meds for years. I have a much better record of delivery under the current administration, who seem to be more concerned about real crimes rather than citizens trying to stay healthy.

Hope that helps. You can PM me if you'd like to discuss this some more.

5. It's not legal
But it's lightly enforced, if at all. Just watch out for things like opiates or other drugs that could be sold on the black market. You could get in deep shit for ordering those.

13. Legitimate pharmacies in Canada will NOT sell narcotics
benzodiazepines or any other drugs of potential abuse. It's how they keep the laws laxly enforced in the US and their packages from getting intercepted on the way to the patients.

If a pharmacy overseas tries to sell these drugs to you, avoid them like the plague. It's the surest bet it's a pill mill that isn't really careful about sourcing the medication and it can get you in a world of hurt with the DEA.

6. The drugs I buy at my Canadian pharmacy aren't made in India...
they're made in Canada or the US.

I'd be cautious about a Canadian pharmacy selling Indian medications.

12. I get Prilosec from India.
It works just fine, the price is right, and delivery is surprisingly prompt.

7. I've bought from Canada but here's my research in US sources too
I did alot of research because my mother's medicare D usually sucked pretty bad.
I even had to set up a spreadsheet because she had so many meds, and trying to price shop.

I've bought meds for my mother at the Universal Drug Store in Canada, here's the link:
http://www.universaldrugstore.com/

There are also some mail order pharmacies in the US that are actually cheaper
than the Canadian Pharmacies, depends on the med.

Here's some other options that you might consider:

GreatRX Buys (New Jersey) the prices were competitive against Canadian pharmacies.
http://greatrxbuys.com/index.shtml (mail order pharmacy in US)

YourRXCard. Free prescription card (website lets you see how much meds will cost with card at your
neighborhood pharmacies by zipcode)
http://www.yourrxcard.com/

WallyWorld.
And as much as I hate to say it, Wal-Mart's list of $4.00 generics is an excellent deal on
many good meds. Here's Wal-Mart's list of cheap generics, even cheaper if you buy 90 day supply:
http://i.walmartimages.com/i/if/hmp/fusion/customer_list.pdf

Some pharmacies have cheap generics but charge you a bit more and have a "membership fee".

10. Bad link
http://greatrxbuys.com/index.shtml: This link is "suspended."

I've had excellent dealings with "canadadrugsonline.com" I just refilled my Lipitor 40 mg prescription at local pharmacy and paid $250 for 45 pills. Pharmacist indicated that maker of Lipitor had increased its prices first of the year.

I contacted canadadrugsonline.com and ordered 90 of the same 40mg pills for $100. I did have a written prescription from my doctor and scanned and sent it attached to an e-mail to the pharmacy. My security program said the Web site is not trustworthy, but in my experience of 8 years or so, it is absolutely safe and reliable. Based in British Columbia. As I looked around a bit, my security program said all CANADIAN sites were not safe. Just Canada phobia, I think, by the U.S. pharma companies.

I also take Prilosec, which is criminally high priced in this country, even the generic version. I get them now from India--unbelievable price and works the same as the high-priced stuff. If anyone is interested, pm me and I'll give you the Web address for seller.

If you're close to the Mexican border, we've had great success purchasing drugs in Algodones, near Yuma.
