How can this be true? Viruses reinfecting? |
|
My grandchildren's doctor apparently told their parents to air out their house because the kids were getting reinfected with the same stomach bug over and over again.
Now it is true that they have had vomiting/diarrhea spells every week or two it seems, but I do not understand how it can be the same virus reinfecting them. Don't they develop immunities to these specific viruses? Or do they mutate so quickly they can come back and reinfect a week or 2 later?
Or was the doctor's comments (or the report of said comments) just a bunch of crap - pun intended.

1. my dad always believed in airing out the house about an hour each day, even in winter |
|
and we hardly ever came down with anything. But then we also walked to school each day. Also you need to watch how the food is prepared. Maybe he forgot to mention cleaning the kitchen.

2. It does make sense to air out the house to prevent sickness |
|
I just wonder about the notion that the kids get sick with the same bug over and over again.
I wonder about the food preparation. Maybe there is a culprit there.

3. We always change out toothbrushes after and event for that reason. |
|
For some reason it makes sense. Whenever one of us thinks that they are getting sick again I always ask, "Did you change your toothbrush?"

5. Some kinda colitis? You might wanna wipe EVERYTHING down with disinfectant as well. |
|
I picked up a bug last time I was in the hospital called C-Diff. Apparently bought on by the overuse of antibiotics at the hospital. Poor kids-poor you-Hang in there.

7. Remember the cruise ships having to wipe everything in the ship |
|
down because the passengers kept getting re-infected.

9. Rather like catching a cold more than once. Viruses mutate and there can by tiny |
|
differences between strains, leading you to be able to get infected over and over and over again with slightly different strains.
It's the shits.

you don't build immunity against the stomach viruses like you do to regular flu and colds. At least that is what I remember being told. If this is happening then you have to do more than air out the house!! Disinfect bathrooms, the kitchen, toothbrushes, hair brushes, towels, etc. ALL AT ONCE, along with airing out the house.
Are they taking vitamin D3? It sure helps my grandson knock out viruses and infections. Huge difference, overall.

11. Okay, that makes sense! |
|
Since viruses in the GI tract would not be subject to the same types of antibodies that are elsewhere in the body.
Thanks!
