I think my husband and I just got sideswiped by an influenza. |
|
He had it first, I have it now. Fever, chills, sore throat, dizzy, tired. It all matches flu symptoms except for severity and duration. My guess is we got some partial immunity from our flu shots.

1. Last year about this time, I got hit by the flu pretty bad... |
|
It's the sickest I've been in years, 103 degree temp, coughing, chills. It took almost two months for me to shake the cough completely. You better believe I got the flu shot this year, H1N1 and seasonal varities...

2. When did you get you flu shots? |
|
They only work for about 6 months so if you got them in September or October by this time you need a 2nd one.

Are you saying that the viruses mutate that fast? Because I don't think they change the formulation of the shot midway through the season. Getting a 2nd wouldn't do any good.

8. I agree. My husband's case was short lived, as I hope mine will be. |
|
I think without the vaccine, the duration and severity would be much greater! I wonder if students home on break are adding new versions of the virus to the local mix?

I'm still mostly functional but I'm dizzy, tired, got sore throat, and a fever. I'm not throwing up or anything just not much of an appetite. Been drinking lots of juice and taking lots of sudafed.

5. What about hot lemonade with raw honey? |
|
:)
Sorry to hear that you seem to have gotten worse
I had that nasty flu late January, early February. It lasted about three weeks.

7. I've just been putting the honey in my theraflu. |
|
Seems to do the same thing. Although now the sore throat is still there its just more bareable. I dont know if that means its gotten better or I've gotten used to it. Cepacol lozenges nicely numb my throat though!

6. I'd call it an allergy reaction to the willows blooming except |
|
for the fever. I don't think it's a cold - no stuffiness.
