Was trying to see if it was really having an effect, and the first few days I didn't notice anything, but by day five, I was running to my medicine chest.

That'll teach me. LOL

edit by the ediot: jeez, that was a little nonsequiturish. What I meant to convey was that I stopped taking synthroid to see if I really needed it

5. Actually I'm in the process of re-evaluation

all I know at this point is that it works better than nothing, but I'm convinced that things are not optimal yet.

6. I tried getting off thyroid medicine, too, when Armour Thyroid changed their

formula & I became allergic to it. I'm even more allergic to synthroid....or at least I think I am. I could only take it for a month before my muscles wouldn't move any longer without horrible pain.

Now I'm on Nature Thyroid, and so far, I'm not allergic to it.

8. My problem has been finding a practitioner whom I can afford

I had armour for a few years but my practitioner left the business and referred me to someone who wanted %1000 up front. I have no insurance and really have had a hard time finding someone (an MD) who understands the issues and who will prescribe naturthroid or some other RX like armour.

Any suggestions?

I am in the NYC area in the NE.
