3. My dear Peregrine Took... |

I'm post menopausal, but mine was surgical. Also, what's PFD?
I'm not sure I fit in your group; I took hormones for decades, and only quit a couple of years ago when I had a pre-cancer in my right breast.
Anyway, good luck!

I had all my stuff out at the relatively tender age of about 47, due to fibroids.
They took my ovaries too, at my request, so I wouldn't have to worry about ovarian CA.
I went immediately on Premarin, and stayed there till I was past 60. Never had a problem.
I know how lucky I was!

Pelvic floor dysfunction is seen in both men and women; it is often called prostatodynia in men.

And postmenopausal isn't so bad though I still have the very occassional hot flash.
It was the night sweats while I was menopausal that I thought would kill me.

10. Surgically (everything removed) menopausal since 31yo, never took hormones, |
|
well, I did take them for two weeks and decided they weren't for me. It's been nearly 20 years and still love the whole "bahama mama" aspect of it most of the time. Every once in a while a hot flash on a 100F day can do my humor in a bit, but mostly a sense of humor has worked wonders. Other than that, I've loved menopause and all that's come with it, as well as loving those things I no longer have to concern myself with.

No PFD.
The hot flashes were No Fun At All. Especially since I've always hated hot weather, and those Personal Moments of Summer, as one friend called them, were at their worst during a Kansas summer. Yuck. But I never took hormones and got through it all just fine.
No osteoporosis, no bone thinning. Broke my right arm last October (non-displaced hairline fracture of the ulna) and wore a sling for a week, was careful the next week (back driving my stick shift car) and returned to work exactly two weeks after the fracture. No problems. Just had to brag there.

12. I'm going through menopause for the second time - |
|
now THAT's a bitch!!!
The pituitary tumor I had put me into "false menopause" about four-five years ago - the menopause was "false" but the process was the same. About six months after the tumor was removed - SURPRISE! I called my gyn - asking WTF? . . . That was about a 1-1/2 years ago and a few months back, my menopausal symptoms started up again. :banghead:
Oh - and I heartily second the wine recommendation!!

13. Post menopausal for 10 years. No PFD. |
|
I've been on bio-identical hormones for 7 years. Fabulous. Had my uterus out at 42, but still have my ovaries, which is why I didn't go into meno until age 50. I feel wonderful.
